FUG sword with 40 str

Fuma's Ultra Great sword requires 50 str, and FightinCowboy uses it with 40 strength in this video but no red X over it, so limited penalties I guess.

I used a Pale Tongue to match his stats (as close as I could, as he's a warrior base, I'm a knight base). I'm not getting quite the same results though, TY

i had 30 strength on my sl90 only FUGS run. had to have the knights ring on for 5 more points in str to use it twohanding.

Sounds good. I'm going to upgrade it soon. All these gems though, chaos gem and what not.

How would you recommend improving the FUG? Just straight up to +6 or can it (or should it) be upgraded by crystal lizard gems. (is it worthwhile for it - strength build).

The FUGS is one of the special weapons so you upgrade it with twinkling titanite. +5 is max upgrade for it. You can not infuse it with chaos gems etc. but buff with resins or spells like sunlight blade, darkmoon blade etc.

It reaches its max damage at 66 str which is 647 AR while being two-handed.

That's a lot of damage.

I guess the Dark gem, deep gem, Blessed gem and choas gem are all for lesser powered weapons that could use the buffing? If those gems don't work on the weapons the lord in fire link can make for me (like the great hammer and demon axe I got), than I may not have much need for them. Fun to get them anyway.

You get +50% strength when you two-hand things.
So two handing a sword with 40 strength actually counts as 60.
He can use it two-handed from 34 STR onward (34*1,5=51).
