2 in game days for the Anor Londo farm. T'was fun.
And yes, it's the "most effective" method, although I did the Shackles with a friend.
DKS3 out of all dark souls game wants you to play multiplayer. The drop rate of PVE are aweful, for pretty much all covenant reward. So yeah go online if you can, it'll be easier than 6 hours of silver knight farming.
Sunlight Medals - Lothric Knights
Proof of a Concord Kept - Silver Knights
Vertabrae Shackle - Carthus Gravewarden Skeletons
Human Dregs - Blue Robed Deacons
Wolf's Blood Swordgrass - Ghrus
Because b¡tching in other players' games, or being trolled by some DS Pop Star, or getting stuck in a 10 minutes "Roll game" just to collect some stuff I'm missing doesn't sound fun to me either. Plus I don't like all the drama that's allways there around what's fair and what's unfair in DS PvP.
Besides, the character who needs these things is a pure caster PvE build anyway. Sure the online might be fast for anyone who likes and plays PvP and has experience with it, but that's not me. I did the Sunlight Medals online, but that's a different story, at least with the Sun Bros it's you and other player cooperating with each other for mutual benefit.
Well, that would be great. If it takes an hour, two, or four, I'm totally fine with it :) I just don't want to spend 30-50 hours just to get the one Miracle and Piromancy I'm missing.
If you need to you can respec for luck at Rosaria Bed Chambers. Also respec for what ever type of attack you plan to use.
Use the coins to boost discovery, Obviously you want high luck, I was at 60 when I did it. Use the Crystal Rapier for the extra item discover, Mimic helmet, and either a pyro glove or saint's talisman in the off hand (off hand so can poise through some of the enemies) And switch to what you're fighting against.
Use soothing sunlight if you can to counter the mimic helmet, if you like.
Example the Silver Knights I used lightning spear/ stake, 2 or 3 hits really, just get good at timing when they come down the stairs are you and repeat for a few hours, darkmoon cov item on, in the off chance it summons you to break up the grind a little.
The Gru's were easiest with that big chaos pyromancy, or the one that leaves lava under the feet, was also good.
The Darkrwraiths, the pryo that leaves lava tended to make them die in only two attacks, and I was already on new game + 2 or so when I farmed them.
The Lothric Knights, use the first bonfire in Lothric Castle and lightning your way down the stairs, you'll likely need to use two coins because it'll run out on you before you get the room below.
The Decons, I say use the pyro that leaves lava on the ground for the decons by themselves between the bushes but have chaos for the one's grouped up.
====================
Get a partner to help you farm them, IE:
I actually didn't need to farm the Vertabrae Shackles cause a friend wanted to invade farm me/ me invade farm them via red signs, they mostly wanted to do it for the exp, but grabbing the shackles at the same time wasn't a bad deal, and this is of course possible for most if not all the other covenant items,
This is actually the fastest way to get them too,.
As much as you are set against it, I really recommend that you do try to use online methods to get the covenant items you need along side grinding offline.
Warrior of Sunlight being by far the easiest as while equipt their respective covenant items are obtained either by assisting other hosts in their boss battles or invading and defeating hosts while using red eye orb or red soap sign.
Mound-makers and Rosaria's Fingers are much the same as the game still has a fairly active player base and the majority of the item you should have no problem finding other worlds to invade while pledged to these covenants.
Aldrich Faithful is a pvp hot spot, thus invasions are almost instant. Granted as a result there are a lot of trolls in this area, but sometimes it's just easier to take the rough with the smooth.
With Watchdogs of Farron the trick is to stay within the level 20 - 25 bracket and not reinforce your weapon. Summons are still very frequent if you do this, so much so it can be frustrating to your normal game play!
Honestly, way of the blue can just do one. It is THE WORST covenant. I've heard it said summons are more frequent at low levels, but from a personal note I've not experianced much luck with this. I either get summoned, or I don't regardless of level. It truely is a load of smelly sacks. Whats even more annoying is that I'll not lack for blue phantoms being summoned to my world to aid me when I get invaded, I just don't get summoned to other worlds as a blue phantom myself. However being online and pledged to the way of blue along side farming mobs for these covenant items is a sure way to speed things up, you might get lucky and have a sucessful summon and maybe even kill a blood red phantom. Or maybe you won't. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ way of the blue.
I have the best farming setup I could get with this character so far: With Gold Serpent +3, Symbol of Avarice, and Rusted Coin I currently reach 405 Item Discovery. I can't get Crystal Sage Rapier in this game cycle because I had to use his soul to complete Sorceries.
I'm just interested in the Covenant items required for Spell completion, not in max ranking all covenants. I've already done Sunlight Medals through coop, and also farmed the items for Aldrich faithful which wasn't too bad as it just requires 10.
Currently I have 22 Proof of Concord Kept (got ten yesterday) so the offline route for these sound plausible to me, and it takes less than a minute for my Sorcerer to kill the two Silver knights so it's ok. But my problem is those Vertebra Shackles, their drop rate is still freaking low even at 400 Item Discovery.
