Question about multiple save files.

Hey everyone, I started replaying the game thanks to not only the DLC but 2 of my good friends that just joined the fun and it made me want to remake builds again. Unfortunately, my save is already full with 10 characters and I don't want to delete any of them since I PvP with all of them so the most logical decision would be to make a new file, right ?

Here's the question : If I interchange between the 2 saves and play with them regularly, is there a chance I can get soft banned ?

I am not using CE at all or anything and I'm not save abusing because I'm just exchanging save files to play different characters, however, knowing how ♥♥♥♥ their banning system is (I heard people got banned for using Discord Overlay and PS4 Support recently), I want to be sure I won't get banned for interchanging save files because I don't want to create an alt account just for one game.

Hope you guys can help me with this riddle. :0

Save data gets sent back and forth to from's servers to check for irregularities.

I sincerely doubt this is somehow a horrible thing to do but user beware regardless.

The easy/lazy way to swap savefiles would be: login as another user and you get a fresh char page per windows user.

But I would still use the same account so the server could always check and consider that as cheating, no ?

That's not a problem, when you hear about saveswapping usually people only want to dupe items which is forbidden and there seem to be some basic checks from Fromsoft to prevent it.
Don't know in detail but once in a while you see a thread where someone crys because of beeing banned of doing that.

You want something simpler which is allowed.

So if I log into my account from another Windows User I won't have any problem with it ? Don't I need to reinstall the game and all tho ? Seems cumbersome for just swapping save files.

No, you won't even see your old chars, fresh save tied to that user account.

The only thing that is important is that steam runs under that user so even a:
right click+steam.exe -> run as user (if you have that option)
or run as administrator (if you use another account when logged in) could do the trick.

Okay, that sounds neat actually. I just create a dummy user and then just get access to his save file, right ? Can I access to the location with my normal user to make back-up saves ?

I alsop supposed you did that yourself since you're helping me with that, right ?

I'm not really using it, I used it a while ago by mistake when I had Steam always started in admin mode an thought my saves where gone :]
On Ds2 I had a lot of chars there it was more usefull on DS3 I have only 2 chars and one is not mine, let's talk about that in a year or two.

As long as the save data is valid (hasn't been externally modified), you shouldn't have any problem.

Neither of those things could ever result in a ban.

All bans are a result of invalid character data being sent to the server.

Well yeah but I've seen so much report of people being banned for using unharmful cheats (like freecam) or just being banned for using PS4 Support (this used to happen a lot at the launch) that I honestly don't trust the system anymore so I just want to be 100% sure I risk nothing.

It's pretty much like he said, if you don't temper with the savefile you will be good.
Save swapping or different userprofile are not a problem.

Injector bans however are a complete different storry, every program Fromsoft allows
can be used as a almost undetectable cheat injector.
If they allow a program you just hack that program and bypass the complete detection it's a hackers/cheaters dream of easy access.
