Oh, I haven't played Demon's Souls yet because I don't own a console, that also applies to Bloodborne as well. Wished they made ports for them on pc.
Just the lore alone, I dont mind it playing aeons after DS1, that drangleic is apparently build on the ruins of Lordran
Just the depth we have with aldia, how vendrick and aldia tried to push the curse away, recreating an ancient dragon, the war with the giants and much more - its fascinating
I'll never forget the moment after beating Velstadt seeing vendrick wandering aimlessly around
Dark Souls 2 has a very depressed but deep feeling to it - and all the unused content and old concept art is also fascinating
I feel like its PvE and PvP is the best aswell (I dont mean that all the bosses are good and all the enemy places are fair or whatever), it didnt feel clunky to me at all, I could roll into every direction, parrying felt good and I even played without skilling on ADP and havent even used a shield once. went Ultra-Greatsword +10 two handed most of the time.
In DSR, you can abuse the living hell out of backstabs - every backstabable enemy is a joke at this point. Sens Castle was pretty easy, just backstabbing all the easy to evade lizard people twice and they are dead, and sadly, the same goes for almost every enemy in this game. Glad thats fixed in DS2
Most DS1 bosses are super easy too, 2nd tried my first ever Quelaag, first tried my first ever gaping dragon, first tried capri demon and so on... despite all the clunkiness
The most difficult boss for me so far was the gargoyles... isnt that funny? The clunky movement has beaten me there often due to falling from the roof + the fact of having to keep an eye out for two enemies
It would have been really helpfull if they fixed the directional roles in DSR, but nope.. they didnt
In Dark Souls 3, the most part I dislike honestly is the boss design... so many human bosses that are crawling on all their fours, being slender and anatomically weird.. it took me out of the world tbh, but there are also bosses I really really enjoyed, such as sulyvan and midir. What annoyed me the most about DS3 was that all these nice things about DS2, such as fast ladder climbing, power stancing and all the other before mentioned stuff was just.. gone? Why miyazaki, did the B team work out something good? (I am just kidding please dont kill me internet)
I could say so much more to the matter but this text would be humongous if I would continue...
To wrap this up, IMO DS2 did the most things right, DS3 PvP is great, but DS2 PvP is even better, power stancing, backstab preventions (due to knocking animation first and a better degree on when to perform it) and the only thing I dislike is the matchmaking soul memory stuff... cant say anything about DS1 since there is low online activity as for now
As for PvE, DS2s areas felt undetailed sometimes, meanwhile DS1 and DS3 have a lot of, for example, background scenary going on and similar, but I didnt mind DS2s undetailed parts as it kinda felt necessarry for its lore - a lost kingdom which has died out many ages ago, time washed it all away, despite that, it had amazing areas such as heides flametower, Eleum Loyce, the Iron keep and of course drangleic castle to just name a few
love the souls series in its entirety tho, waiting eagerly to play Elden Ring after finishing DSR
