im having so much trouble on this fight, i have spent 5 hours alone trying to beat her now and its not getting better. i have managed to get her to phase 3 and on her final inches of life like 3 times now but she just spams the same attacks to the point i run out of stamina even trying to run away and cant get a single hit in.

i feel some of it is im getting terrible RNG or whatever you call it since no matter how much i bate her she just runs at me and does the same op attack that i can doge but not 5 times in a row with no break. the other part is ill admit im not fantastic at the game (dont worry not one of those guys that blames it all on the game).

my main problem is i have been using the summon to help me and he assists greatly on phase 3 as i can back stab her the issue is getting him there alive since he is the worst helper in the game in my opinion running right into all the attacks focusing on my opponent every time so i get hit by the other dude and then getting himself stuck in a corner and pummled to death. even if i try my best to help the ai and draw away the bosses attention he just ♥♥♥♥♥ it up again.

what im asking is should i even bother with the ai (which i could really use the help of) and if i should use him how on earth do i get him to phase 3 with some decent hp. i tried agroing the sister, i tried agroing the big guy, i tried taking on both but he keeps getting killed.

any tips would be much appreciated except for the main one which is to look for her opening i have them down its just bating her in the first place.

which actuall is my second question how do i bait the blue glowing attack where she jumps in the air and slams down with ice? i can dodge and backstab that one perfectly but she just keeps either sprinting at me or using her regular version without the blue light which i cant dodge for the life of me.

please any help is much appreciated im getting to the point of just quting which kills me cuz i have to much involved in this now and im just getting angry.

I think friede would be much better without the 2nd phase. It relies extremely heavily on BS and RNG. I love the 1st and 3rd phases, but 2nd phase is one of the worst bosses in the series.

You can also see where she lands if you're fast enough. She leaves a small cloud of ash/snow when she lands from her jump.

Backstabbing is recommended here. Bait the jump, then run to her (turns her visible) and then backstab, however, I've always had extreme difficulty with this, because she twists her back out of alignment with her feet, so its really really tough to manage a back stab. I actually have no idea where the hit box is to back stab her when she twists around like that.

If anyone else has any ideas on that, let me know lol.

edit: yeah second phase is pretty bad, I agree. Her 3rd phase is really tough though.

thank you all for the help. phase 1 is easy for me i probably fail it 2 times out of every 5 maybe but phase 2 is more trying to keep the AI guy that helps you alive as he is pretty much useless in phase 2. phase 3 is my trouble as i cant bate her into doing her more obvious attacks and the npc dude usually dies after like 2 hits and i can only get 2-3 free backstabs in.

i will however try that lightning knife trick as i am a twin blade user so im kind of used to those weapons i mite even just buff mine with lightning to see what happens. any more tips on phase 3 would be much appreciated and tips on keeping the dumb npc alive through phase 2 would be great.

i very much agree with you guys tho in my opinion its the worst boss in the game and phase 2 is just stupidly annoying, people refer it to ornstein and smough but id take them any day over these and i had a hard enough time with them but not like this.

Gundyr's halberd is stupid strong against her. She has no real poise to speak of so you can stunlock her for almost 3 WA's.

Also for 3rd phase

I suggest getting a greatbow out and shooting her as she stands up. A greatarrow is much more visible than a knife. Which will help you when she starts running around invisible 3rd phase.

don't expect gael to live past phase 2 either. He's really there so you can burst down father ariandel.

wanted to say thank you all for the help i finally beat her after like 3 attempts today. i ended up buying lightning items to imbue my sellswords with and destroyed the first 2 phases and got to keep gael for a while longer. then i learnt how to correctly bait her and just owned her with 5 estus out of 10 and i used 3 prior to phase 3. i was going to imbue the dagger with lightning gem but i do not have much faith and have not gotten the coal to imbue it yet as i have not fought pontiff yet so just bought the lightning stuff instead.
