I consider the environmental/architectural design of Dark Souls 3 the best I've seen in any game ?
The environments/architecture created in DS3/BB are so detailed and nuanced .. as an example, in the Archdragon peak the irregularities of the stone slabs, the broken rubble paths, details in cathedrals etc - all done manually, no automatic duplication.

Viewing Ariendel chapel from across the bridge - it's looks so beautiful and forboding at the same time! From Software has surely used some magic mojo to create the environments in DS3.

Not sure any other game comes close with such a mixture of magical and menacing beauty.

Dark Souls 3 in a nutshell.

Cathedral after ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cathedral.

I'm sick of the damn cathedral settings fromsoft stop it.

Don't even say that farron swamp and the undead catacombs are even satisfying.


It's just been overdone in the soulsborne series.

Not really. Those smaller detailed spots are simply that. Small. Wouldn't take much effort to do a pass over and improve the small details with so little to work on. To many that surpass it be it Deus Ex series, Metro, Last of Us, Witcher 3, Bioshock, Fallout series, Skyrim, etc. The repeating textures may not be as obvious on some structures because the game is so visually stunted they can spare the extra resources on something like this but it would certainly not be bragging rights. From a design perspective it is good but anything beyond that I say "nay" FROM is cutting corners way to hard.

I think the Design of Dark Souls/ Bloodborne is amazing, however the Details are way better in other Games. I still find Dark Souls to be one of the most visually stunning Games that exist.
