Your first time playing and your asking for stuff like this already? lol Kinda odd. Anyways, that ring is actually a wasted slot. People can swear it will speed up your cast rate a lot but dex is actually quite worthless for 90% of the spells in the game as most cast about the same speed. A few frames isn't going to make a worth while difference even in PvP for how few frame difference it results in at the cost of a slot/stat investment.

My 99 Int 125 SL Sorceress would say otherwise to that statement. Sages Ring does indeed help, but the +2 version is only obtained in NG++, if you want the speed, offhand the " Whitetree Branch " or " Saint-Tree Bellvine " as both have a hidden value that increases casting speed to the max.

I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure you can't really benefit from the difference of 0.1-0.2 frames in DS3. Unlike an arcade fighting game DS3 actions aren't fast enough to get anything out of that time frame difference. There are frame by frame comparisons on YouTube that also disprove the usefulness of Sages Ring++. I have it and wouldn't even bother using it. I said there are some spells it does make a real difference on which is probably what is confusing u, but the overwhelming majority it does not.

Wrath of God Testing:
20 Dexterity, cast time = 2.9 seconds
20 Dexterity & Sage Ring (50 total Virtual Dex), cast time = 2.3 seconds.

Over half a second difference on one of the longest spells avaliable. This time saved matters even more on swift spells you can spam.

"On one of the longest spells available."

If this doesn't make it clear to you I don't know what will... You have only reinforced my point. 0.6 seconds for one of the longest spells in the game means most spells are going to be 0.3 and less...

0.5 sec matters for me

For certain spells and miracles it is very worthwile but I agree there are far better uses for the ring slot if you aren't packing a spell that gets good cast time reduction. Although at this point it seems the debate is where the line is drawn for what spells get enough from the ring.

Hopefully someone has a spare they'd like to give you Pure Blood! I keep my only one on my current character handy in case I respec for magic.
