Why does the game feel boring? Is it just me?
About 60 hours in (2 characters, one for co-op with my son), and I don't know if that's what's dimming the sun for me, or that the game feels a bit lackluster compared to previous iterations. Just defeated the Deacons.

Does it get better? I have not yet encountered a Capra demon challenge, or O&S moment, although once when we got invaded by 2 players, while an NPC invader active (Yellowfinger), and the 2 Farron Keep exiles were attacking us, well, that felt pretty awesome for a while. Specially since we toasted them all.

I don't mean to attack the game itself, or compare the gameplay to DS1, DS2, or SotFS, as they each had their strengths and weaknesses just like DS3.

It's just more a feeling like, "been there, done that" has set in for me. Weapons feel generally lame (SS seems pretty much all you need, nothing else has made me go "wow" yet).

So, please help fellow sunbros, help me praise the Sun.

1. Does it get more inspired after Farron Keep/Cathedral?
2. Is the story/NPCs engaging, or will they all go hollow?
3. What weapon/weapon class make you go öoh, yummy, gotta try that"
4. Are there any invaders that don't just run and hide when you hit them a few times, but come to stand and deliver, rather than just waste time smelling the flowers while hiding and chugging estus?
5. Do I need therapy because I don't luv the game?
6. Do I need to "git gud"?

1. I felt that the whole game felt inspired.
2. The story is the usual stuff to expect from Dark Souls. In otherwords, you have to research online to learn the story, or just read item descriptions.
3. Weapon of choice: Great Axe.
4. Invaders will be invaders. Some play aggressive, some play defensive. Not sure what you mean there.
5. Probably.
6. Never seen you play. Don't know.

1: It kind of does. There are areas after Farron that are pretty well designed. As a whole, though, there's a lot apparently left open. It's not terribly well planed out, unfortunately.
2: Most of them are hollow (lol). Anri's story is actually one of the better ones in the Dark Souls series, though.
3: I used Magic most of the time, so I found weapons to be pretty bland in this one. Nothing really sprang out to me, so I ended up using Straight Swords almost exclusively.
4: Not really.
5: Nope
6: Nope

1) IMHO not so much.
2) Pretty much all will die, as usual.
3) Pretty much all non staright swords, curved, or katanas. But then when you will realize all weapon have pretty much the same moveset with minor changes...well, you won't like it.
4)Me.
5) No
6) Whoever says "git Gud" on dark souls 3 is probably a troll. In pve all you need to do, if you are not good, is just using dried fingers, and summon the world.
In pvp same thing.
Or if you are australian, just dominate with your lag.

1- It get better but it seems like you prefer "ganking" fights. Nto everybody love that.
2- Arent all hollows, just talk with them. Btw you can ♥♥♥♥ up questlines.
3- Again, everybody prefer different things. I like fists and Great weapons in general.
4- If you´re playing with your son and the invader have to deal with a 2 vs 1....why the ♥♥♥♥ he gonna run to your sword? Its an invasion, not a duel.
5- No, its ok if you dont like/love the game. I dont like Skyrim and is ok too.
6- Probably you gonna git gud but at least the first run i prefer going alone...the coop make the things super easy.

Capra Demon isn't challenging.

Thanks for the input.

@ Facu, not sure how you deduced Iike gank squads from my comment.... I don't. I was referring to a situation in Crucifixion forest where 2 of us (me, my summon) were against 5 (2 npc Farron Exiles, Yellowfinger npc invader, 2 player invaders from Farron covenant). Was pretty dicey, but made the blood rush for sure. If you invade though, you can't really complain if someone has a summon. Some play for the co-op bro.

@Jamchow, YOU rule mate. I found him very challenging in my first playthrough as someone new to DS.

@ everyone else, the "git gud" was meant to be tongue in cheek btw, it always seem to make it into every thread at some stage. Invader quality has definitely deteriorated, which is understandable given how many people play this c/t DS2, etc. The invasion mechanics (upgrade limits esp.) have also made a huge impact, and invaders are not as scary as they used to be. Maybe I did get a bit better?, or maybe everyone else got more mediocre with the new mechanics. Who knows.

I'll obviously keep playing,

If you're blind deaf and having a stroke then sure, you might not get the overaching story. Its literally told to you by the litany of NPCs you encounter

I find the lack of colour something that kind of makes it feel more dull. I mean Dark souls isnt a colourful series by any means, theres only so much gray or grayish colouring of things you can see till it gets dull. Its desaturated to hell. Boreal valleys is still the nicest looking in the game Imo.
But overall enjoyment is subjective

You need co-op. Not talking about just randomly summoning someone. My third playthrough with a friend with voice chat was 10x more enjoyable. I know you stated that one of your character is to play with your friend but you need someone that's on your maturity level (be it lower or higher then your son)

Yes.
Co-op is nice when playing online, and I enjoy the password matchmaking of DS3 way more than the DS1 or 2 systems. I find playing with my teenage son very entertaining. He has that abandon of youth, which is inspiring (I hope that doesn't reflect my own maturity level, lol). He seems much better at the pvp aspect, as he has no fear, while I circle and strike at openings when I am alone. I have sat through his pvp battles a few times, when time allows (as mentioned I find the pvp to really drag out in DS3, with all the healing and running away. Like those seeds though! Very entertaining to watch.

I have switched to play my solo run offline, just to be more immersed in the actual story, and interact with the npc's a bit better. I'm no pvp affectionato, so happily give that a miss when playing alone.

Unfortuantely, I see the new DLC hasn't breathed any life into the overall feeling of the game. Depressing :(
Ta'veren 2016년 11월 14일 오후 5시 54분
I wonder if it is just that the actual story is just very depressing, and playing through it again, and again, starts feeling like hollowing yourself

I mean, really, why can't that fire just stay linked for once? (In fact it's a wonder there is a linked fire, I've always gone dark lord, or Aldia's choice myself, i.e. walking away from it all, myself0

You need to see the game is a more comical light, search up edwad emberpants on youtube and you'll see what I mean

Game feels really unbalanced honestly, I just can't think of anything particularly fun to do with builds since by the end of it it always feels like "so I better have a backup insert-meta-weapon-here to actually kill people with, since I ain't gonna stand a chance in a 1v3 with this".
