Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords broken?
Don't get me wrong, I love to use these weapons. But in 1vs1 duels they seem like a pushover. If you actually learn how to use them besides spamming L1 & L2, they become nasty. The running L1 or second combo L1 is great for catching rollers. Weapon art itself seems to actually suck. I only use it to present myself harder to predict. Which is a huge advantage of this weapon: given the wide moveset, there's so many things you can do. I avoid generally weapon arts if I'm in unsafe position because it can lead to easy backstabs by smart people, in particular if you followup with L2.

If you get some decent poise, practically I think anyone who is trying to trade without a pickaxe or a club is going to get rekt. They run the risk of being full comboed which will be super, super bad for them. Once you get off that combo, it's only matter of couple pokes. I have like 48 poise at SL140 which I guess catches lots of players off guard when it comes to staggering?

I've noticed that these weapons are often included in PvP videos, where typically someone showcases a weapon against various opponents. Often I see that the people who use RKPGS are terrible. They don't utilize roll + L1/R1, they try to constantly open with L1 despite the fact that opponents can learn to punish that and I'm not sure if they even know that R1 and R2 exist (R2 is not particularily great, but I find it great vs. fast pokers)

Their damage isn't top-tier, but if you pull off the combo (which isn't as rare as one would think), it's really bad news. So far I've only been steamrolled by people who use maces. I'm not sure if that's because maces are really great counter vs. this weapon or because I have seen them relatively rarely and don't know yet how to counter them. I've also heard that cestus users can counter this weapon, have only had once a cestus player vs. me and that player did kill me in a fair duel, but I got off some hits and I had never been against one before

Oh and also, have fun blocking these weapons unless you run some extremely high stability greatshield. Some people have tried that and basically, it didn't work out for their favor at all.

Roll out of the way of the combo and punish, not hard when I do it

If I see opponent doing this consistently, I stop following up with third L1

And recovery time from third L1 isn't actually bad at all, I surprisingly often manage to roll out myself after that

stomp.

I agree with you, once your opponent stops spamming L1 and get and idea of how to punish rolls, they become incredibly hard to hit. I've never won a match with these guys.

Solution: Move 3 meters away. Done.

I have yet to be killed by that weapon.

I do so enjoy showing folks the DS3 space program.

That or greatweapons to break them out of it. Or just perseverance.

The weapon itself isn't THAT BAD, the bad reputation just stems from the bad players.

any projectile = profit

Yeaaaa no.

Some folks do indeed suck and instead of getting gud they just complain. But this weapon when it 1st came out was simply borked.

I don't know about these weapons. After the balance changes they started disappearing, so I've never really seen people who use them effectively. Back before the change though I would only get people spamming the WA and the occasional one that spiced it up with actual attacks. I only really lost to these when I didn't understand their moveset/timings, after that I won pretty much every time, but as I said I really don't think I've met someone who is using them effectively.

I don't think it's a bad weapon at all, and the moveset is pretty damn good. But the amount of combo spammers is intolerable.

I love how the usual response from the community when people complain is essentially 'git gud'. There are quite a few problems with this weapon.

Yes you can roll and use a variety of tactics (mostly it seems outranging or avoiding) but the fact of the matter is, it's the same thing you do for any standard UGS, and people don't complain about that. It's the same reason the Dark Sword was so complained about, it does a stupid amount of damage for what it is. The twinned ultras give you in most cases a guarenteed kill if you land even a single first hit (even the first two of the combo) on someone, who most likely is trying to whittle you down if the twin user has built themselves correctly. Everyone makes mistakes eventually and the difference is it's a lot easier to be punished on most builds by the twins for making a mistake than the other way around, even for a skilled player. I don't sense balance there.

I can't speak for any recent patches though if it's had any major changes so feel free to educate me

If it's alright folks, can we in near future arrange a test where I'll fight some of you guys who are confident against these weapons? I think it might be legit possibility that I only beat lot of the folk because they haven't fought vs. these weapons (given they are rare, something I acknowledge).

I can't do it right now but prolly within a week. Thing is, I don't consider myself particularily great player. But when I saw people in youtube videos using these, so few of them actually seemed to know anything else than spamming L1 and L2 as I said, which is just terrible

See, projectiles can be avoided (most of the time). Roll-spamming works both ways after all. Although this weapon isn't too great catching roll spammers if you have to roll yourself, since the roll + L/R1 isn't horizontal.
