Why no vampires?
Anyone else thing it's a little odd that there hasn't been any vampires in the dark souls series? Seems like it would fit the western/european dark fantasy theme of the games.

Bloodborne alluded to the Cainhurst family line being vampires, but never directly stated so.

Just something that crossed my mind today.

No cause Dark Souls is more of a medieval fantasy style series. Bloodborne might have this since it's more based around Victorian/Gothic stuff. Though can't honestly confirm it since I've never played the game.

Cuz Miyazaki wasnt that attached to the ideas of lycathropy and vampires when he was thinking in Dark souls and medieval stuff? :o

Immortal Undead that wield unnatural powers obtained by consuming the essence of others, but who can go mad if deprived from that essence...

The whole dark/darksign, humans becoming more than humans by becoming Undead, being hated and scorned by other humans etc. already covers most of the same ground that vampires would cover. The primary differences being that Vampires are typically associated with dark magic/satanic powers and have an aversion to daylight/garlic/holy water/religious symbols.

Rather than go the demonic route of having some sort of uberdark evil baddies and power, Dark Souls prefers to remain ambiguous: The Dark can be a lot of things: both good and bad, depending on eye of the beholder, and seems to be a loose symbolic stand-in for humanity's inner demons/animal side on the one hand, and free will/truest self on the other. Vampires don't really fit in in that sort of context and atmosphere, being almost always directly associated with some sort of objectively "evil" forces in most media.
The souls series has in no way, shape, or form given me any vamp vibe whatsoever. Bloodborne? maybe. Souls series? not even close.

*A bunch of powahful ppl who claimed to be goods; A bunch of inmortal ass who died...well, just the BLIND, SCALELESS and without legs one and the dragon who idk were in the bar at that time; Weird woman ghost and a couple with a child but i cant say anything about the last 2 the thing is that Miyazaki doesnt follow generic designs/concepts too much.

If you think about it the undead are a bit similar to vampires. Hated, usually takes alot of abuse, and sucks essence to stay alive. Oh, and their are killers of the undead in DS1. I think it was the way of the white? IDK.
