Builds that are the most fun to play?
Opinions? Not the strongest or most efficient, but the most entertaining and fun to use.

Every time I do a playthrough with a strength/large weapon kind of build the game devolves into a boring and unchallenging wreck fest. And sadly the magic builds Ive made were either too weak or too boring to play. In my opinion its the worst build because there are so many areas that are close quarters and so many enemies that are super fast and theres never time or room enough to cast more than opening spells. Also super unbalanced, early game basic soul arrow spells work, but mid-late game it takes at least seven soul spears to kill anything above the trash mobs. Dex builds also feel underpowered and it seems like there are so few dex-centric weapons in comparison to strength ones, and the dex ones all end up feeling super weak anyway, unless Ive been playing it wrong.

this is hard to say but imo darksoul build is about efficient or unefficient there is nothing fun or not fun but if u want some kind of alittle magic alittle melee then how about heavy greatsword at 40 str and 40 point in faith for miracle ? claymore or bastard sword is great with 40 str in heavy build that give 506 ar and u u want more damge u can enhance it with lightning blade and zap ur enemy with thunder still i dont see anything about fun or not fun in darksoul
it is dead or alive

Yes that is the mentality I had, whatever killed the best. But once youve killed everything a thousand times, and learned all the enemies behaviors and movesets, it isnt a question of being able to kill it. Of course everything will die, lol, but whether or not the process of killing is bland and repetitive, or fun and fluid. Im at 32 strength on my current build and Im already one shotting everything, right after pontiff, and the giants in courtyard go down in two hits before they even stand up, which clearly takes no skill and isnt fun in the least as its no challenge.

This is my quandry, having a build that is not overly weak, but not instawin, and is entertaining and fun to play as.

Dex builds are super weak? Lol you have to be doing something wrong

Also with a str build if it's 'too powerful' then use weapons that aren't upgraded so much. Souls is like that - there's no difficulty setting but you set your own difficulty by your weapon upgrade and soul level choices

Huh, thanks for the input. Yeah I had a feeling I was just not playing dex right. Im just having trouble finding the sweet spot where im not overly handicapping myself with weak stuff, but not using stuff that requires no skill/instawin. Will have to try a dex character again.

Just have at least 40 dex and sharp infuse most dex-oriented weps to get the most out of them. You need to play a bit more reactively than you usually do with a str build but they are quite enjoyable to use in pve. In pvp I'm not a huge fan because passive playstyles are best with weapons that don't benefit from hyper frames. Also in general alot of dex weapons don't have fantastic reach unless its the astora gs or spears/pikes

Chaos blade is a baller dex weapon, very nice range and damage, and the damage it inflicts upon the user is neat imo

Great corvian scythe is another good one

well if u r too tired of the game then it is time to move on to next game :))
no matter what u try u wont get that fun u seek in darksoul or any game that u r play too many time

Also if you have memorised the game very well, maybe it is time to move onto pvp.

I got sick of pve in souls games a long time ago and the only thing that keeps me coming back is pvp. Most new characters I make go through the game at around sl20 to make the pve somewhat of a challenge, after which I level them up a little bit and move on to hosting or invading. Imo pvp is one of the hardest things to get really decent at - it's one of those 'easy to learn, hard to master' things

imo dex infuse is weak atm compare to heavy infuse becos dex infuse still add str scale to it and by that the developer neft the dex scale compare to str scale in heavy infuse
with samge scale grade A heavy claymore with 40 str and 13 dex u have 506 damage but dex a scale claymore with 40 dex and base str u have only ~480 damage
so in the end dex weapon scale still need max out 40 str 40 dex or best result with come in the quality build that is better
so unlet u like katana like chaos blade while still have some magic i feel dex build is pointless atm as in pve every weapon is fine while in pvp it is mind over power

Generic PvE Knight/light armor Mans has been kind to me.

The basis is less on the endgame, and more on being able to cast low level miracles (12 Faith goes a long way. 10 INT for spook helps a lot considering how late in silvercat ring is), a grab bag of early pyromancy (Fire orb and Carthus beacon go a long way vs PvE enemies weak fo fire), and a minimum of 14 DEX to get practical use out of a longbow to pull enemies to you.

It gives you a comfortable range of fall back options, and fits pretty much any build unless you need every single solitary level to the point you can't afford 10 utility levels tops.

Though a Dragonrider Bow with just 19/15 STR/DEX deals some respectable damage against weaker enemies, most people are unwilling to spend the scales on it because they want to save all their scales for the boss soul weapons you unlock after you are able to easily farm up scales anyway ala the Dragonslayer Swordspear.

Still. I can understand the frustration in trying to find that sweet spot of "More challenging than your usual build" and "Doesn't feel like weak ♥♥♥♥ compared to your usual build". Ala feeling sympathy for every "Mage" build I sun-bro for against bosses that practically troll them.

Good luck, several people firing sorcery spells at Aldritch last night. He's dead now, (have fun with dancer!)

Sharp infused dex weapon damage is fine. Of course 40/40 w/refined is best for just about everything but even majority of str weapons don't get S scaling when heavy infused.

Infusions on both heavy and dex weps will 95% of the time raise scaling to an A at max upgrade, and str weapons benefit more from that A simply because they generally have higher AR to begin with.

Uh, so you can't play with Dex weapons 'cause they are weak lategame, but you don't mind playing something that isn't the strongest/most efficient..? Weird.

Anyway, the weapons I've had most fun with;
Lothric Knight Spear with a target shield, super fun and looks cool. Sharp infused.
Great Scythe and/or Friede's Scythe. 'cause they aren't that viable comparing to most weapons, but so much fun.
Ringed Knight Straight Sword. Looks just so awesome.

And lastly:
Sellsword Twinblades. NOTHING comes nearly as close how much fun this weapons. It's just too good.
