How to play DS3 with a PS3 controller ?
I bought a Bluetooth adapter, I was told it's necessary.
I am not sure where in the PC I can plug the controller.

It isn't. But if you want wireless, you made a good choice.
Plug both the Controller via USB and BT adapter to your PC. Let Windows Install the native drivers.

Download SCPToolkit, latest version and just follow the installation instructions. Now they will pair, and whenever you press the PS Home button, the controller will turn on for Wireless. And for Wired, you just plug it in.

Then you can setup when it goes off when it is idle, or just press the PS Home button for 15 seconds to turn it off.

Thanks. I did. The game is on and when I press the PS home button nothing happens. It only responds to the keyboard/mouse.

It might have not been the latest version of SCPToolkit. I downloaded from here

You should, run a program called "ScpToolkit clean wipe utility" to remove all traces, uninstall the version that doesn't work and install the new version.
Also, afaik ps3 pads have to be reset if they were previously paired with the console, there's a little hole in the back of the gamepad, that's the reset button, just use a toothpick or something and hold the button down for a while.

I am using ps3 controller on my PC too. I can recommend BetterDS3 for USB. Motionjoy with Bluetooth.

Yeah, think you have to reset it again then pair with the ps3.
