Black Knight sword can't go above +5???

I upgraded it to 5 and it dissapeared from reinforce weapon, does that mean I can't upgrade it anymore? I thought all weapons went to +10?

Black Knight Sword is a +5 weapon.

Special weapons can only go to +5, but each upgrade level counts as two. So a Black Knight Sword +1 is like a Claymore +2 and so on...

Some weapons max at +5 (basically stuff that starts with Twinkling, and other rarer materials). Every rank of a weapon like this counts as +2, actually, for match making purposes. Example: Black Knight Sword +3/5 = equivalent of +6/10 for match making.

That depends on your playstyle. Fume Ultra Greatsword is either the best or the second best Ultra Greatsword for strength builds. Farron Greatsword got buffed so its pretty viable for dex builds. Astoras Greatsword scales s with almost every infusion so its a great versatile weapon but beware parry kings, as practically everything it does is parryable.
You might even like the Paired Knight Greatsword, which is a fantastic weapon in its own right.

As sick as i am of hearing this myself, there is no definite answer. Dependin on your build and playstyle the best weapon will change. Like Varagonax said, the farron is good for dex builds and astoras greatsword is great for quality. I personally rolled with Gaels once i got it and took it to NG+ and did PVP with it because it behaves like a normal greatsword with pokes, sweeps and a badass weapon art. Since it's a quality weapon, i can still use a variety of other weapons alongside it.

If i had to say what weapon would be best for you, choose a quality weapon like Astoras greatsword. Since its good on quality builds you will still be able to experiment with other weapons and switch to them without having to worry too much about stats.

Based on your question, you seem pretty new to the game so quality is best for you.

Black Knight Sword, with the Perseverance WA, is beast for trading. Best on Quality.
Hollowslayer, best 2HR1 of all greatswords with the most active HA frames. Also best on Quality.
Onyx, greatest reach of all greatswords, outspace for day. Best on Pyro.

Those are pretty good, IMO, can't go wrong. Altough all of them can be good on the proper build/playstyle. They are a good class of weapons.

The best greatsword is called Gael's Greatsword because the weapon art is really cool. Black knight is also pretty good; I use both. Black knight I mostly use to kill demons like Demon Prince or Old Demon King, does a lot of damage to demons. The charged R2 attack also staggers enemies really well.

Forgot about that one! Due to high base damage, it is incredibly powerfull on a lower level build.

That said, if you're new to the game, get yourself a Hollowslayer and go quality, you can't go wrong and it'll help you learn the spacing and pace. You can get it within the first 1-2 hours of the game, right after you kill the giant tree.
