Hexes, or dark magic, are still in the game, but aren't found until much later in the game. Now I've never played Dark Souls 2 since I only played the original and 3, but once you get past the mid game you'll find a npc that sells dark magic and you can give that npc dark tomes to learn more.

Though the number of Dark magics in the game are few and, for the most part, aren't really all that good, and this is coming from someone who loves using sorcerires. But this is just my opinion of the topic.

Honestly that's the best way to play until then for hexers. Since both Pyromancers and Hexers rely on both intelligence and faith for their damage it's the best way to have that caster playstyle before you get your first hexes.

I believe you get your first offensive hexes after the Cathedral of the Deep boss fight (dark sorcery), when you give Irina the Deep Braille Tome (dark miracle) and when you defeat the Catacombs of Carthus boss fight (dark pyromancy), which can be early-mid game.

also whats up with the goo monsters like the second stage of gundyrs boss fight and that one guy in the wall of lothric, they seam to me they would fit into a resident evil game more then a darksouls game.??????

Those enemies are called Pus of Man and according to the lore the pus is the abyss that tainted some of the undead. I agree with the design being more RE than what you would see in DS but that's basically what they are.

dark sorcery is the new hex in this game. But sadly every dark spell is complete trash.

With some exceptions. Black Fire Ball is fantastic against enemies weak to dark. Great Soul Dregs hits for over 1K easily, up to 2K on enemies weak to dark. There are a few other useful spells really. Black Serpent is good in pvp to catch people that roll too early (which can also be forced with other spells)

I know where they are

In the bucket of non-viable damage

Want some other non-viables?

Archery, Almost all sorcery, all dark magic, (Except pyro) Daggers, Almost all miracles if your build isn't perfect.

So practically the whole game except for melee

A scaling Brigand Twin Daggers with Crystal Magic Weapon would like a word.

Sadly, there's no Hexes as a separate magic type in this game. Those few dark spells in each magic class (Pyro, Sorcery, Miracles) are no match for what Hexes were in Dark Souls 2.

You can't, there are only two 'hex' spells you can get until siad vendor who sells them. Even then ...yeah they generally are not as powerful as using the normal school's spells. Except pyro's dark spells, which seem to combine well with the 'normal' pyro spells.
