floating glowing crown

i just invaded someone and the host of embers had a floating glowing crown floating above his head. it isnt an item that i know about so what is it?

yes but it wasnt in the arena. i dont even have the dlc. it was outside the pontif sullyvahn bonfire

That was obviously a cheater. There is no accidental way of obtaining the lead crown of a duel/ brawl outside of the arena.

Go to your recently played tab , look for the guy you invaded and block him . It will prevent any further interaction with teh cheater. As far as I've read.

I had a similar situation, but on the other end. I was fighting the boss ( pontif sullyvahn) while some other player was joining me, also beeing "host of ember". me and a friendly phantom wanted to fight the boss, in the first 2 min of an intensive fight the other player got killed, me and the white phantom got this floating crown, the fight was damn easy and quickly over, and the crown stayed with my (also I got crazy HP and no NPC was able to hurt me) for some time afterwards. can anyone explain this to me? the complete crown thing, I am no PVP player and have only vanilla DS3, no dlc or anything as far as I know...

Likely the CE thing mentioned. I'm guessing the result of a player using the team type of arena combatant has some interesting consequences for nearby players when they die. Could be the crowned man, in fact, had nothing to do with getting the crown other than summoning/killing someone (that they didn't necessarily know was) cheating.

thanks for the answer! can you explain the "arena combat" stuff? did the other "host" challenge me in some kind? outside of the boss' area the player was friendly, no hostility

No he's cheating. Since the arena related crown wouldn't show up above his head outside of the undead match. The arena you can activate by owning ashes of ariandel and killing the option boss after the depths of the painting bonfire.

I had the crown after the boss fight and I was defenitely not cheating :D
i think your mixing up our stories, I had a 2nd player while bossfighting, no phantom, normal skin. after the player died I got the crown and the huge hp boost, and after the boss was down in mere minutes I kept the crown running arround until I was summond into another world and then came back....

Right, when you summon someone into your world they are either a phantom or a dark spirit. This is stored as a simple value on their character when in your world. When doing arena combat you are given a very different value than either of those.

If your story is true then what I surmise happened is that a person you summoned (or got invaded by) changed their flag/value to that of an arena combatant. When they died, it gave you a lead crown. Which may have had some other effects.

the funny thing was that it was not a phantom at all.
it had normal colour/skin, and was shown above my white phantom on the left part of the screen as "host of ember".
I couldn't find anything about the "lead crown" you are talking about. I guess it is a PVP stat or something? can you go into more details?

and I did not invate the 3rd player at all, while we were preparing to fight the boss he just arrived, waved a friendly hello and joined when I traversed the mist
