Which ending do you consider the "best" ending? *SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY*
Of course there is no good or bad ending in Dark Souls, but which do you consider the "best" of the 4 possible endings?

Personally, I think The End of Fire ending is the best one. Letting the First Flame die out so new flames may ignite? Sounds like a fitting ending to the Dark Souls series to me, and a perfect metaphor for FromSoftware moving on from the Souls series to make something new.

Ashen One forgets about this fire business and dedicates life to feeding humanity hogies to Archdeacon McDonalds.

By my perspective it's the Usurper ending is the best of the 3.

I think of it as how one would treat the situation that is the Age of Man: Gwyn, the Gods, and the Lords, were all in denial of the Age, they would try absolutely every method they could muster in order to keep a dying flame a lit, like life support. The Betrayal endings of DS2 and 3, however, is acceptance. You have a full understanding that there's nothing you can really do about the situation itself, and that your only initial use is to sacrifice yourself to appease the Gods.

Lastly, we have the Usurper and Dark Lord endings. These are not denial, nor acceptance, but adaptation. You don't fear the dark, you embrace it, you rule over it. One of mankind's greatest strengths is adaptation; we probably wouldn't be here if it weren't for that trait.

Are the Sable Church the good guys? Ofcourse not, but as their ruler, the Ashen One can make it so. On the flip side, if you dig in hard enough, the Way of White and Blue Sentinels aren't too high on the moral compass either.

Depends on the player.

Light ending: Link the fire continueing the age of fire such as Lord Gwyn and the other lords and past cinder keeping the darkness at bay and riding the world of the undead curse.

Dark ending: Let the fire die out and let darkness rule over for a time before the fire re-kindles and brings light once again. Side note as we can see witht he pus of man from DS3 and the humanity sprits and Manus from DS1 allowing the age of dark also allows the abyss to roam free and wreck ♥♥♥♥.

Usuper ending: Kill the firekeeper (careful might get police called on you for waifu abuse) and take the power of the flame for your self. What you do with it is un-know.

Lord of hallows: Furfill the long awaits legend of Londor and the mightest fear of the first lord Gwyn and take the power of the flame for you and all the other hallows of the world and become the new dark lord.

So that's pretty much the endings in a nutshell and it depened on the player. Be the "good guy" and link the first flame pushing the darkness back and removing the undead curse of the world.

Or be the "bad guy" and take the power of the flame and rule over the world and the hallowed as the dark lord.

No, you know this wrong. You don't take the fire, you destroy it. It's the same as the dark ending, but goes even further. You basically destroy the world, and it will never be reborn.

So the 2 dark endings:
-Firekeeper is alive, and the fire fades, so a new one can arise. The firekeeper is the one who does the thing, because she knows how to do it.
-Firekeeper is abused, you kill the flames yourselves, but you are a dumb ♥♥♥♥ and thus the fire is gone forever.

After seeing all endings I usually only go for the hidden ending since it's basically giving the finger to the whole world.
You take the flame yourself wether it means ending the world, instead of burning yourself or being Kaath's ♥♥♥♥♥, or simply gaining the strongest "Ember" that you could find basically gaining it's power.

I just hangout with the Firekeeper. that's my best ending.

Dark Souls ending? What? NEVER! NO!

Lord of Hollows: Cause, ♥♥♥♥, everyone else has managed to screw this pooch so badly, all of life is an endless loop of decay and death. Taking all the power I can and fixing things or at least trying to scrounge together a life worth living is the only thing that makes any sense at this point.

Or

Killing the Flames: Cause, ♥♥♥♥, if I'm gonna give up, I'm taking the world with me. Even if I reboot everything, they've already proven the cycle simply repeats. We see that with the Lord of Cinder and others. No point. A full wipe and starting from a completely clean slate is the only decent alternative.

The other endings are just doing the same ♥♥♥♥ over again and waiting for the cycle to eventually repeat. I, for one, would think that an undead who keeps dying and fighting, dying and fighting, dying and fighting, over and over and over and over against the same ♥♥♥♥ all the time would eventually get tired of it all and simply see the futility in the *default* choices presented to him. Wildly bucking the trend would be the only sane option. The definition of insanity is to keep giving the same input and expecting the output to change.
