Dragonslayer swordspear for first game?
I like that weapon because of the cool weapon art, but as i understand i would obtain that weapon like way late game when the game is pretty much over?

Any other weapons with cool weapon art that shoots magical sh1t? I know of moonlight greatsword and Crescent Moon Sword, but i dont want to go any int, just a tiny bit faith for a few heals and rest all melee power.

There is also Dragonslayer Spear but as i understand thats at the same area as the swordspear.

I'll be honest, Dragonslayer Swordspear will absolutely decimate a good portion of this game. Good moveset PVP and PVE wise + lightning damage + self buff + a ranged attack through a weapon art, you'll have no trouble running through the entirety of the game.

Which is why I hope you don't actually manage to get one without killing the Nameless King. Good luck.

I had a mule port the Swordspear over to a new char of mine, and honestly it’s been a struggle...I think it’s a good thing the weapon’s locked behind lategame because the way it scales off three stats means if you’re just barely meeting the reqs for it you’re doing chip damage a lot of the time. Can’t remember the last time the slave enemies in Irythill took 3 hits to kill, the SS was taking 3/4.

It’s a fun weapon, and a blast to use, but putting it where it is was an excellent design choice. Not a good weapon for early/mid game at all. Takes too many stat points to get to the point it’s solid. Plus it’s a boss weapon so it needs scales...so I’m running around Anor Londo with a +1 SS, or a +2 equivalent.

Edit: once you get to the lategame though with a good build, it’s an excellent weapon.

Any other weapons that have some magical stuff spewing out of them? That you can get earlier?

...If you wanna count Follower Torch and Follower Javelin's WAs.

Storyteller's staff lets you barf some potent poison (or toxin) and that is, technically, available pretty early on. In Highwall, there is a Deep infused Axe you can find. (And I find that the basic Battle Axe is a damned good weapon with a decently fun weapon art)

I agree with this guy, 100%.

Greatsword of judgement is decent and is available fairly early.

yea but thats an int weapon, not really looking to put anything into int, just a little bit to faith for a heal or 2 and rest to melee prowess

Just wanted some cool glowing magical special attack lol

LOL!

Prepare to get reck'd by someone with Faith and Int leveled and using a Dark or Chaos weapon. Some of the most potent weapons in the game still scale off Int and Faith. (then again, my perspective is skewed by a couple hundred SL) "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! Where is all this [element] damage coming from?" (because they have the stats to make it work, naturally)

Early on, one would have to make some serious concessions to have a flat statline for STR, Dex, Faith and INT. So, hey! Provided you never go beyond SL.... 60-80-ish... You should be fiiiine. If you are not planning on seeing how far you can take your character, then no worries. Just search up Mugen for a SL125 build (because fightclub metas)

♥♥♥♥, just use the Butcher's Knife! That thing has some absurd STR scaling, early on. I used it for a hell of a long time... And then found (once I leveled Int and Faith) that the damage on it is kiiiiiiiiiiind of poop (above SL100~)

You want a STRENGTH scaling weapon that does fancy ♥♥♥♥? The best you are going to get is something that buffs damage or a combo-WA. At which point I strongly suggest the Great Club (successfully landing that heavy WA is hella satisfying)

Also, just a heads up, don't bother with the whole faith for heal spells or anything. Unlike our good friend Dark Souls 2, there's no Great Heal Except to abuse for free heals. Honestly, you're much better off putting those faith points into...almost any other stat, because with faith, either
1: You level it HARD, and take full advantage of what it has to offer
2: You don't touch it at all/leave it at the bare minimum for Force, which is honestly more for PVP. Just to shove people off ledges.

It gives you an aura of firey smokey sorts of effects, while active. I think the weapon gets the effect, as well.

Also good if you are getting dog-piled.
"It stuns all nearby enemies and provides a ~10% physical damage-boosting buff that lasts 30 seconds. The stun effect is a minor form of Force with a very small AoE range."

Greataxe (the one you can be lucky enough to get right at the first enemies at Lothric wall, not upgraded) or at the demon after the swamp, is already enough to 10 shot (or near that) with weapon art the slave giant at Irithyll Dungeon (given player stats "I dont remember")
TrueArchery Mar 25, 2019 @ 8:26am
Early on there isn't really anything. You can go for the Tailbone weapons in the midgame. Or Gargoyle ones.

Most weapons with a beam inflict elemental damage (and scale off Int/Fth) with that attack though so they don't hit that hard without investment. The Dragonslayer Swordspear/Spear are no exception.

I had 20 or so faith in DS 1 and DS 2 just to get a few heals here and there, always worked great when i was out of estus

Profaned Greatsword from Pontiff Sulyvahn has a fire set buff and only really requires STR, I think it also shoots a fire thing like Lorian’s UGS. If you’re looking to integrate magic into your melee build your most effective strat will be weapon buffs with weapon combos. 40 faith with lightning or dark moon blade+anything with a useable combo with get you a lot of wins.

Lorians is the only UGS with a projectile, bar Ringed Knight Paired Greatswords. Profaned Greatsaword is just the usual stomp into uppercut, only it buffs it with fire damage in a similar fashion to the Firelink Greatsword.

Speaking of, Firelink Greatsword launches a projectile, but you have to have a very "even" split of stats to use it. Yes, that means putting points into int, but it doesn't scale off int/fth thankfully.
