Damage Against Gael

My 521 AR Chaos Hand Axe is only dealing about 170 damage to Gael, but when I'm summoned to another world, it deals much closer to 480 damage. The same thing applies to my spells, and I'm wondering if anybody else has noticed this. It certainly makes the fight rather tedious.

Yea, what kind of damage is better? Fire, electric, faith, dark magic, poison, dragon, fairy, grass type, water, charmander?

Yeah, I noticed the damage all applying at once on the same frame.

Geal is resistant to fire and dark I believe, bleed too. Weak to toxic, frost and lightning

I have weapons infused with Chaos, Dark, and Lightning. They all have similar AR and they all deal about the same pathetically low damage to Gael.

Chaos is fire. Are they all the same type of weapon? Do you have the stats to get proper scaling with the lightning weapon? Lightning scales differently from chaos and dark, and the weapon that has the infusion makes a world of difference.

While they're not all the same type of weapon, the infusion scaling on all of them is pretty decent. I have a Dark Longsword and a Lightning Millwood Battle Axe.

I read somewhere that Gael was weak to strike damage, so I got a Lightning Morning Star as well. Still deals the same damage. Is Gael simply that resistant to all damage?

(The specific AR of each weapon is as follows: CHA 471, DLS 480, LMWBA 477, LMS 439)

Each damage type will go through the enemy's defense/absorption. Split damage will essentially have to go through 2 defense checks and will result in much lower dmg if the opponent is strong against the type you are using.

Fyi hes also resistant to slash damage.

Go to Rosaria and take whatever you need out of intelligence to make faith 60, you won’t be needing your chaos or dark weapons for geal. That should improve the AR of your lightning weapons a lot. Also get a weapon that scales well with faith uninfused, then infuse it with lightning.

Nothing will make the Gael fight easy, but this should greatly improve your damage against him

With around 600 AR my Friede Scythe dealt 215 damage to Gael (light attacks).
With 800 AR my Dragonslayer Greataxe dealt 480 damage to Gael (light attacks).

I defeated Gael with Dragonslayer Greataxe even if with Friede Scythe it was easier to land hit and dodge with more safety, I still prefered the damage of each hit of my greataxe.
under 30% weight% it was already safe enough (I almost killed him the first try, where he was with some 30% of his health, and I was just under 60% weight% so it is also possible, just not as safe).

I am with
60 STR
40 DEX
14 INT
21 FAITH (or 22, dont remember)
It as enough for this damage with the Dragonslayer Greataxe

Well, it's good to know that Gael is simply tanky, and that my weapons themselves aren't the real issue.

Also have an offhand dagger and buff it with poison to poison him now and again, he’s weak to that too
