Dark Souls 3 lore, my short summary, anything else important I should know?
I am trying to understand Dark Souls 3 lore. If someone got time, if you can read this, and tell me if I got things right and if there is anything important that I missed, please add it.

So this is what I got from different sources. Gwyn was first Lord of Cinder, he linked the fire, because since first flame was found, it was necessary to link fire occasionally so age of dark doesn't come, after that it was chosen undead in ds1, then bearer of the curse in ds2, and now in Dark Souls 3 we learn that there were many lords of cinder after that(Yhorm, Ludeth, Aldrich, Abyss Watchers, Lothric was supposed to be, but he refused, because some school of the first sin taught him so).

Lords of Cinder: Ludeth was studying transposition, and for some reason he betrayed his city or whatever, and for that he was chosen as Lord of Cinder. Yhorm was descendant of the ancient ruler, and to save capitale he became lord of cinder to basnih profound flame, but it didn't work, profund flame didn't dissappear and he lost someone close to him. Abyss Watchers pretty much workshiped Artorias, and they served as abyss cleaners, basically if kingdom would start getting swallowed by abyss, they would destroy abyss, and eventually they were affected by abyss too, and we see them killing each other endlessly because they went mad. They were chosen as lords of cinder, because their souls together were powerful enough. As for Aldrich, well he was deacon in Cathedral of the Deep, and he went mad, and started eating people, and he became so powerful that he was chosen as lord of cinder cause of his might. He was first locked in cathedral of the deep, but then they moved him to anor londo, where he swallowed gods themselves(we know that he swallowed Gwyndolin, and that he uses priscilla lifehunt scythe and Nito's sword, and we have no proofs that he swallowed nito or priscilla, but he was able to create visions so real, that he could learn "skills" or "make weapons" through these visions, and in these visions he saw deep sea, which is basically inevitable end of world, dark age, or abyss age whatever you call it). As for Lothric, because of his refusal to sacrifice himself, it was decided that when bells toll, that old lords of cinder sacrifice themselves again, however Yhorm became depressed after someone closed to him died, and basically his sacrifice didn't do anything for his capital, so he refused, Aldrich didn't want cause of Deep Sea, Abyss Watchers went crazy cause of abyss, and Lothric ofc still refusing. That's why we have to slay those lords ourselves, and bring their souls to thrones.

Nameless King: gwyn's firstborn, master of Ornstein, former god of war, who was dragonslayer once, but then switched sides and joined dragons(why? no idea). For that he was banished from kingdom, from existence basically, cause there were no records about him at all anymore.

Gundyr: his job was to bring those lords of cinder back, but when he reached firelink, well age of dark already started, so he failed his job, and basically, he is judge, and his purpose is only to test if we are chosen one or something like that.

High Lord Wolnir: King who was swallowed by abyss, he was ruler of catacombs of carthur. Not sure if his lore is important.

Ponitff: He basically became ruler of Irythill and Anor Londo, ruled over deacons of the deep who protected aldrich, and he sent his knights: vordt and dancer, to guard path to aldrich, and I didn't get much about him, except that he is trying to prevent us to reach adlrich.

Dragonslayer Armour: meh, not much about him, except that he lost his master long ago, and armour is controlled by that flying bug, and those flying bugs could be those pygmies.

Soul of Cinder is basically just a final boss, and he is representative of all past lords of cinder, and that's pretty much what I got about him.

Old Demon King is one of the last demons, and pretty much purpose of him in this game is to show us that demon realm is at the bring of destruction.

I didn't get lore about Demon Prince.

Oceiros: former king of Lothric, who went mad after reading Seath's studies, and he became obsessed with becoming dragon or whatever, and he got child ocelotte with I forgot who. He seems to believe that his baby will be strong as priscilla and that's why he says oh you heard about it's power, or something like that. This baby is also not visible, so it seems like it has at least some power of priscilla. He is father of lothric, lorian and ocelotte.

DLCs: Midir is pretty much like ds3 Kalameet, was affected by abyss, and his duty is to guard access to princess Filianore, like the rest of Ringed City. Everyone is trying to prevent you to reach princess, youngest daughter of Gwyn, and once you reach her, you travel through time, until the very end of the world, where you meet Gael, who is uncle to that little girl in Painted world of Ariandel, and he set on journey to find dark soul, so she can paint some "strong" painted world, cause like real world, every painted world(like aramis before this) becomes rotten over time, and once it becomes rotten inhabitants can either burn it or accept it's fate, which basically happens in first dlc, Sister Friede persuaded father ariandel to not burn this world, and your duty is to kill them and set the world on fire. After you kill Gael, you get dark soul, and basically Gael whole purpose was to consume dark soul over time, and to basically die and from his blood and dark souls to get one powerful thing which will be used to created another painted world. I think that Gael realised that world will come to end one day, and therefore he decided to make some powerful painted world, that will be sealed inside other painted world.

I hope I got things right, I love dark souls 1 lore too much, ds2 was really bad, and dark souls 3 lore didn't impress me much either, but I like Gael part. I hope I missed some important things, because this lore is meh to me. Dark Souls 1 was like 10 times bigger.

I suggest you look into DS2 lore more, Its my favorite of the series. Only difference is its lore is more focused on just its story, where DS3 and 1 are connected.

DS2 is still connected just to a lesser degree.

But yea, thats a pretty good lore summary.

Pontiff was supposed to be a more final and important boss in DS3 than people give him credit for. He's a giant dickhed

Dark Souls 2 is the Souls game that I played most, I have like 800 hours in ds2, and I mostly played it cause I love pvp in ds2, it's my favorite(ds1 has instant backstab, and ds3 well so many broken things). I think that even tho many will disagree dark souls 2 pvp was most fun and best.

I guess you are right, I should play dark souls 2 again and read more about lore, it's just seems off.

For me ds1 9.5, ds2 8, ds3 7.5.
