Recommended Level for Soul of Cinder?
So I guess my luck has finally run out, as I absolutely cannot beat this dude. I beat every other boss I came across (only through pure luck), but I can't beat this guy. I thought I did at one point, but then he just got back up, got all his health back, threw me up in the air and did an insta-kill combo on me.

From what I can tell, I must be too weak to fight this guy.

I don't want to summon since I beat every other boss alone, so I was thinking of grinding instead so I can level up and actually stand a chance against this guy.

I'm level 90 or so right now. What level should I be in order to have a fighting chance against him? 150? 200? I wish the game said around what level you should be before you fought a boss, but it doesn't, so I'm asking here.

Thanks!

I appreciate the tip, but there's no way I'm going in that hellhole again. With those fire guys and those goats that jump on you and rip your face off...yeah, no thanks. Whatever is in that hallway is not worth going through all that suffering again. :<
Yes, I feel your sentiment. In my first playthrough, I found ways to fight them without close up.
My char is melee only, I don't use anything ranged, so I am not so fortunate. :P

I could have played this game a thousand times and never known that area existed.
I have too much faith in your intellect to believe that.
I hate it when games require you to look outside the game to understand stuff. Why couldn't they have a hint or something? An NPC or something to say maybe you should try doing that. This isn't the 90s where you need to rely on that month's Nintendo Power to find all the secrets. Do I need to read the wiki to understand this game's story, too? Cuz I have no idea what's going on there. :/
Well, in the game's defense, you find the gesture on a corpse who is performing the gesture. If the player was paying attention, they would recognize it as the same gesture the corpses in Irythil Dungeon are/were performing and realized the empty spot was for them to perform the gesture as well.

As for the Untended Graves passage behind the chest through the illusory wall, the room it is in has three walls that look especially tempting to a hidden door hunter. I only say that because I have been whacking the walls in fromsoftware games for 1000's of hours.

I still think you would have found it all given the time.
If you say so, I still think they shoulda made it more clear though...

In any case, I beat Champion Gundyr, the Wyvern, and the Nameless King (although, admittedly for that one I had to summon 2 other phantoms to help, I just could not do any significant damage to his 2nd phase and he killed me in 1-2 hits, so I couldn't do it alone).

The only thing left is the final boss. So...wish me luck. :P

Just in case you ever even tought about dlc's , soul of cinder compared to most dlc bosses is a joke not a Boss.

If you're thinking about Gael, he's not a boss. He's just trying to help an artist. Please leave him alone.

I'm doin' him right now. He doesn't seem that tough, at least compared to the boss I was just fighting, the Nameless King. That's the only boss I had to use summons for, because hot damn was that boss a load of BS.

Fun fact , 2 dlc bosses have 2x as much health and can one shot you with a few of their attacks.
If you ever buy and will want to do dlc's and want a Phantom you can always Ask.
You can enjoy the views and I will take care of the ugly guys.

I beat Soul of Cinder just right now. Had to summon a dude but, whateves. A win's a win.

Hot damn man, I've played a lot of games in my time, and this was, THE number one absolute hardest game I've ever played. Even after playing 40 hours I feel like I haven't even gotten any better... Well, now I never have to play this game or any of the other Dark Souls ever again. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders... Feels nice :)

Thx for the offer, but there's no way I'm playing the dlc's now. I considered it at first, but after playing the base game, I know I'm just going to be completely miserable playing them. Thanks, but no thanks. :estusempty:
