Greirat and breaking Sirris' questline
If you break Sirris questline, and therefore you cannot help her kill Creighton the wanderer, will that mean Greirat will automatically die at Irithyll? Or is Greirat's survival dependant on the invading NPCs based on the questlines that are still available? (Since her questline is broken, Creighton won't be an issue?)

iirc Greirat's survival depends on Onionbro's and Patches' questlines... if onion is sitting at the fire in Irithyll, then Greirat is safe; if onion is unavailable / dead, but Patches is back at Firelink and still has the onion armor, then that's safe too; otherwise, Greirat dies.

I tend to leave not only inionbro sitting there, but with the estus soup still there as well. I'm not sure if that even DOES anything, but it gives me mental security lol

OK let me explain. Hue hue *flicks nose*

Sirris' questline is dependant on 2 things.

#1. Offering a pale tongue to Rosaria (You lose the quest)

#2. The 6 times you encounter sirris in some form another.

First is firelink right after you've killed mad spirit hodrick at undead settlement or stumbled into the pit of hollows (a.you kill tree / b. you drop in from the cage route)

Second Time is after you give the shrine handmaid the dreamchaser's ashes.

Third time is after you help her with creighton on the bridge.

Fourth time is after you've killed the other 3 lords of cinder excluding lothric (I think this is the trigger anyway) * You'll find the shrine handmaid selling a unique Budding green blossom that has sirris' message to her grandmother on it.

Fifth time is infront of the where the fog gate to the Curse rotten greatwood. Where you can assist her with killing hodrick.

Sixth time (congrats) You'll find her one last time at Firelink where you can either choose to accept her knightly vow or refuse. I suggest you just accept since that means her unique equipment will appear nearby firelink infront of a gravestone instead of the pit of hollows where she'll be hostile.

Anyways that's it for sirris. It really shouldn't conflict with greirat's questline at all since creighton's invasion of YOUR world is not part of her quest.

Btw for creighton to invade you Pontiff Sulyvahn does need to be alive.

Greirat's questline has several places you might easily over look or not even consider that will break his questline prematurely.

That said there's also 2 different saviors you can put up for him (lol)

#1. if you have no more bosses left you can't progress greirat's questline beyond simply rescuing him from jail.

So decide early on if you're going to finish his questline

#2. After you give him loretta's bone You'll have to visit him 3 times until he is ready to go steal for you again.

#3. By the time you get to irithyll he'll offer to go stealing again. Now hold up here because

unless you have prepared his knight in "shining" armor he'll die for certain here locking you out

of the lothric castle inventory ~the last phase of his questline.

Patches and Siegward:

So first of all you do need to help siegward with the fire demon halfway

up the elevator at the undead settlement within the tower that the Archer giant is sniping

hollows from.

After that's been settled you'll find Patches has filched Siegward's armor (presumably while he was having a nice ol nap LOL).

If you buy the armor from patches you will have to rely on siegward to save greirat

If you decide to leave off buying Siegwards armor for him you can rely on patches instead.

Do note that if you do decide to let patches do the saving you can still complete siegward's quest if you buy back the armor after he saves greirat at irithyll. Just in time for the profaned capital and yhorm.

#4. Up to this point there wasn't any difficulty with greirat's questline but now we get to several mistakes you can make that will end it.

1. Discovering the distant manor bonfire (Greirat Death counter: 1)

2. Killing Pontiff sulyvahn before patches or siegward has saved greirat
(Greirat Death Counter:2)

3. Killing Alva the wanderer's red phantom (Greirat Death Counter: 3!!!)

4. Not resting at enough bonfires after you've activated the "save greirat flag" by talking to either patches (if he has the armor) or siegward (if you gave him back his onions).
(Greirat Death counter: 4 TIMES)

Mind you I do believe the game only requires you to rest at a bonfire once after you've sent

greirat out pillaging and seen patches/siegward. However with Patches you do have to leave

firelink and return once again after you've spoken to him since I don't think he goes out until

you've done so. This isn't the case with siegward - find him at the soup kitchen in the belly of

irithyll. Wake him up / have a nice chat / cheers / Exhaust all his dialogue -> Presumably if

you're concerned with efficiency you'll go on ahead and open up all the shorcuts up to Pontiff

Sulyvahn's boss arena. If you open up the last shortcut which nets you an easy route to and

from Yorshka's church bonfire to the fog gate you'll have a nice oppurtunity to rest and finally

sigh once or twice in relief because now you can beat the snowballs out of Sulyvahn's

nose hole without any fear for your little theif's poor life.

#5. Beyond irithyll it's pretty simple. Once you've killed the dancer of the boreal valley and

activated the lothric castle bonfire, upon returning to Firelink shrine Greirat will offer to go out

stealing for you once again. Now you can decide whether to send him off to his doom or just

deny him. This part of the quest can be begun at anytime before you start another new game.

If you do decide to send him off you'll find his ashes on a nearby rooftop to the right of a

corvian congregation around the grand archive upper levels.

Patches can also be alerted to greirat's predicament at lothric castle if you haven't yet picked

up greirat's ashes. He doesn't need the onion armor to go out and look for Greirat this time so

you can buy up the armor before or after this if you haven't yet. Once you've found Greirat's

ashes after leaving and returning to Firelink Shrine again you'll find Patches with his trademark

squat in his usual corner. He'll have a new line and will be selling a hidden blessing he

otherwise wouldn't.

I hope you can read this WALL-O-TEXT

lol

Did you copy-paste this? It has an odd formatting, with some double line breaks every n characters.

And btw discovering the distant Manor bonfire will not make greirat die. Entering the next area does.

I know the vast majority of that. My question is simply regarding creighton (Irithyll, Summoned by Sirris on her questline), as being one of the invading NPCs. I've been under the impression that the more invading NPCs you kill, the more likely Greirat will be saved by Siegward or Patches.

Most mental secury would be achieved by saving Greirat before entering Irithyll at all. It goes like this:
1. Light the first bonfire in Irithyll before the bridge and get the doll from the deacons. Those are the requirements for sending Greirat there.
2. Make sure that Siegward has his armor(give it to him or miss him completely by taking the elevator to rafters before encountering Patches).
3. Send Greirat to pillage Irithyll.
4. Kill any boss that you haven't killed yet(Old Demon King, Friede, Dancer, etc).
5. Greirat is guaranteed to be back at Firelink Shrine since no failure conditions in Irithyll could be triggered.

Nah distant manor does indeed break Greirat's bones. FTW to answer your first question I put a linebreak between every other line of text so it'd be easier to read. IMO eyestrain sucks.

Are you sure about that? I don't think it ever did for me. ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°)
Onionbro moves to his next stage only when you enter Irithyll dungeon, touching the bonfire doesn't trigger him... and as long as he's sitting at the fire in the kitchen, Greirat's safe.

Yeah. I think you can go and LIGHT that bonfire, but if you go to the stairwell that leads down, it automatically sends Siegward to the Prison.

Which means you now have to go through the profaned capital, and rescue him from the jail cell in there. However, I'm not sure if that means he'll be able to rescue Greirat, but he'll be free, so he theoretically could. Just don't continue all the way and kill Yhorm otherwise, obviously, Siegward wont be available anymore at all.

me too, I've always unlocked the distant manor bonfire and it never broke greirat's quest. also, I've always been very careful to remember to not step past the archway that is there that leads to the next area.
