Which 4 rings do you use?
I have a dex build. Currently on NG+. I am using the Rong of Favor +3, the Ring of Steel Protection +3, the Carthus Ring and the +3 Chloranthy Ring.

I have no idea if the Carthus Ring is a good choice but I love the effect. Also, is the Ring of Steel Protection +3 worth using?

Ring of Favour +3, Havel's +3 and then generally hornet ring and a free ring slot. If I'm somewhere where silvercat ring is a near must I swap the hornet ring if I need to instead.

Carthus ring is pretty much a worse hunter ring but you get the neat little disappear trick. Ring of Steel Protection +3 is useful... But only in PvE. In PvP it adds like 5% absorption rather than the 17% or so that you get in PvE. Still doubt I'd ever really use it since there's much better options depending on what you're doing.

If you play on high levels then that's already very good. I think the carthus ring is only really worth it in pvp. The same goes for the ring of steel as its effect is reduced to 3% damage reduction or something like that in pvp so you'd be better off picking something like a hornet ring.
Dex builds don't really have any 'must have / should have' rings. Ring of favor is good on any character. If nothing comes to your mind you could always use the havels ring and put on armor with more protection.

pvp (sl115) I usually go Ring of Favor +3, havels +3, hornet ring, obscuring ring.
Around sl 60 the prisoners chain is incredibly strong, on levels lower than that even godlike because early points in vigor give you ridiculous amounts of hp negating the loss in absorbtions easily. It also gives you endurance to improve your trades and leaves more points to put into offensive stats.
If you're talking about a pure melee build, it really depends on the build itself and if you're PVE or PVP oriented. I like to run Ring of Favor +3, Chloranthy Ring +3, Life Ring +3, and Hornet Ring/Silvercat Ring/Leo Ring depending on what setup I'm running. Hornet Ring for increased riposte damage, Silvercat Ring for shenanigans when I'm invading, and Leo Ring if I'm running a spear.

The Ring of Steel Protection is a decent choice for PVE. It decreases the amount of damage you take from PVE enemies by a full 17%, it could be a worthwhile choice and could save you a hit or two in some situations. There actually aren't that many worthwhile rings to use. As a last option, you could consider the Prisoner's Chain. If you're interested, this is the build I'm planning on playing with next playthrough:

Chloranty ring +3, Prisoner's chain, silvercat ring and obscuring ring. Best rings in the game tbh.

The Hornet Ring is popular for PvP bcause of the riposte I guess. But does it serve that big a purpose in PvE? Same with the Silvercat Ring.

I use life ring +3, Farron ring, Dragon Scale ring (hate backstab fishers errr) and patches ring

Well, some bosses can be parried and riposted, along with a lot of normal enemies in the game for major damage. But you can just as easily roll out of the way and damage them normally, so the Hornet Ring has limited use in PVE.

As for the Silvercat Ring, it can save you a bit of time in some areas and you don't have to worry about fall damage for the most part. Ultimately it's a pretty niche ring that shines during invasions when you have a lot of people chasing after you and you want to gain a quick breather. It's basically up to personal preference.

Only PvE area I found Silvercat ring to be a near must for is Ringed City. Rest is fine to do without.

Yes, it's pretty niche and you're better off using something like the Life Ring or the Hornet Ring. I equip it for my melee builds when I'm playing as an Aldrich Faithful though because trolling :praisesun:

Never really use the life ring in PvE. Probably because only one of my characters has the +3 version and I don't think the others are worth it enough. For PvE I generally stick to prisoner's/favor +3, sun princess ring, and chloranthy +3 ring. Last one depends on the area and what I'm fighting. As for bosses I pretty much always have lloyd's sword ring, since for the most part estus isn't an issue.

As for PvP it's the rings I mentioned in my earlier comment. Though I pretty much just do melee builds so I have more ring slots I can swap about.
