Closest you could call her was a fire sorcerer. She and her children used a staff you cast fire "spells". She couldn't have used pyromancies, since her daughter, Quelana, created them.

Sorcerer, she even has a staff. Pyromancy has come after her time.

she is neither a pyromancer nor a sorcerer.... she is a witch.

but I read on the wikis that the sorcer use the magic of the soul while the witch of Izalith used fire-type spells

Using spells does make her a sorcerer in my opinion. The fire spells are just lost.
We also have these "light" spells from Oolacile and hexes, spells do not need to be the blue-souls-stuffs.
As long as we keep the magic divided in the three groups of DS1 she must be a sorcerer, because pyro was not invented and miracles would be hard to use before any story was told.

Edit:

The Demon Firesage was the first demon,

Looks quite clear that she used sorcery.

The pyro that comes closest to the old spells is probably the Fire tempest:

Erect giant fire pillars in vicinity.
The tempestuous raging flames resemble those
summoned by the Daughters of Chaos when they
challenged the ancient dragons and scorched
the very earth.

could be that the legacy of her magic is the pyro ?

She used "fire sorcery".

Which means it's.. sorcery.. but fire..

Honestly, that would be pretty cool if it were in the game.

But that would also make pyromancy pointless.

So...

Only the DS3 and DS2 pyro, in DS1 we would still have the pyro without leveling faith or intelligence, the magic for everyone, one could say.
Fire spells would be something nice for the sorcerer who does not want to use the blue magic all the time. The demon spell would be great to kick people around.

She apparent;y used a staff so that sounds like sorcery, but her sorceries were fire based.
bason Dec 28, 2018 @ 7:44pm
She used fire based sorceries, so early pyromancies basicaly
