Is mailbreaker a bad weapon?

Im using mail breaker on my first run and i enjoy it,its very fast and deals decent dmg but is it good for lategame and pvp?

It's fine, even on a faith build (use lightning infusion).
Although it doesn't do as much critical damage as the dagger does, it can still one shot some people and finish others off that have taken some damage (it has about 11~12k crit for a reposte on a proper faith build).
The range is only a bit longer, but it does have a better R2 as opposed to the dagger.

Mail Breaker. Also, in ealy game, the Chaos Mail Breaker has the highest riposte damage (even without INT/FTH investment); I´m not sure when the Fire/Chaos Dagger surpasses it.

OP, use it with a WA medium shield and practice those pivot BSs. It´s a pretty decent weapon.

I thought TacoCat asked about Corvian GK vs Mail Breaker. The dagger has the highest crit modifier, but in early game, the Chaos Mail Breaker does slightly more damage in ripostes (around 20, IIRC). This and the better moveset makes it a solid option for low SL.

My bad then. I thought for some reason they meant the dagger since I looked at the wrong comment.

Also, never knew that chaos mail breaker was better than a fire infused one. Pretty weird that it has 21 more AR at +2 when on the base knight class stats. Never seen that before, though it does seem the fire infusion does better at higher upgrades than chaos if you still had base int/faith. Interesting to know.

I don't think that there're "bad weapons" in this game, anything can be viable if you know how to use it. I got through the entire game with a Lightning Estoc

Might apply to PvE, might apply to PvP against casual and bad players, does certainly not apply to fights against good players. In those fights, your choice of gear matters a lot.

Ah yes, I should have clarified: anything can be used with some success in PVE. I personally swapped to the Lightning Lothric Knight Sword after I was done cosplaying as Sirris on my Faith build. A great weapon all around, it yields 511 AR with 60 Faith.

Sometimes I can't believe such a great weapon still remains untouched and wasn't nerfed into oblivion a long time ago. Great reach, great damage, great scaling, low stamina consumption, what more could you want? It's the straight sword meta bois
