will there ever be a dark souls 4??

just wondering if there's ever even been any speculation about it, i know dark souls 3 is still extremely fresh, but is it to be the conclusion of the series? might i as well go on powerleveling to SL999? or will a new chapter begin again sometime ...?

Most likely not. They confirmed DS3 to be the last one a while back

Dark Souls 3 is the final game of the series. There's no Dark Souls 4 going to come, sadly.

Nobody knows anything more than yourself. They have said (this was in like 2016 I think) we have no plans for another installment. That doesn't mean anything though. They could pull one out of their behinds or more than likely we will see BB2 or a different IP (ie Sekiro) etc

Sekiro will hold us off for a while but theyre talking about doing a demon souls remaster right now, but will most likely not come to pc

3. they will milk the esport event later on this year then they will announce what is next

DS franchise is exhausted conceptually. It is not if they can or not, is not about can do, it is about the maturity of a product. Many games end up at episode 3.

and lets keep in mind that fromsoft has essentially been making this game since the nineties.
with kings field, shadow tower, and others, all contributing in their own ways to the lore or mechanics of souls.

so long story short, if history is anything to stand by, there will be more souls like games from fromsoft, if under another name or guise.
however, i think the current incarnation of souls has ran its course, and its time for a NEW universe with NEW lore and NEW coop innovations.

pros: lots of weird paths and exploration and fairly surprisingily deep skill system.
cons, lots of grinding, and loot is quickly made obosolte in new areas. can actually be too confusing to navigate, more so than dark souls

you get all the classic weapons from the start, great sword, longsword and shield, spear, bombs, and unlock more as you progress.
pros: great boss rush game with lots of really tough bosses and pretty tight controls.
cons: no open world no coop.
