Downside to killing the Giant of the Undead Settlement?

Is there any downside to killing the giant of the undead settlement now that i'm preparing for NG+? Trying to get all rings before going into NG+ but im not sure if killing the giant will be bad

He doesn't give you air support if you stand next to the white birch trees scattered across Lothric... and that's pretty much it.

The giant should already be dead, but if not, might as well, that's the only way to get the Hawk Ring.

I would. He also dies naturally if you pick up all the white branches that are around the trees.

If you're ready for NG+ then there's nothing he can shoot that you can't kill faster.
