i'm confused about the Abyss Watchers lore

Why are they fighting eachother? Are they getting sucked by the same abyss that Wolnir does? why wolves? etc

where did the abyss came from all of the sudden though?

At the beginning of the Dark Souls timeline there was only darkness but then some people lit a giant campfire known as the first flame and all the darkness was gone. However, some people in a town named oolacile were drawn to the darkness because they were able to create dark sorceries like black flame. This eventually led to them torturing a man that used to live in the world of pure darkness (most likely he was named Manus). Manus went insane and turned into this extremely strong boss guy who started spreading a lot of darkness around, this is when the abyss first started. However, some blue guy named Artorias decided to stop the spread of the abyss (and rescue a princess but that's a different story) and despite being part of an entire ARMY decided to ONLY take a singular wolf named Sif with him. Artorias completely failed in stopping the abyss (which makes sense considering he didn't bring ANY backup with him). Thankfully a meta tryhard casual known as the chosen undead happened to show up and finish what Artorias started which caused everyone to think Artorias actually finished his mission. Later on, a bunch of fanboys known as the Abyss Watchers decided to follow in Artorias's footsteps and destroy any sign of the abyss. The wolf part comes from the fact that Artorias was represented by a wolf (remember sif?). Eventually, some guy known as Wolnir fell into the abyss and when the Abyss Watchers came to investigate, some of them got corrupted by the abyss and that's why they're fighting each other when you first meet them, it's the non-corrupted members fighting the corrupted ones.

Their job is to fight the spread of the Abyss, however the Abyss has begun taking control of their minds and bodies, causing them to fight eachother. The red eyed Wtacher you see has been completely consumed by the Abyss, which is why it fights anyone randomly.

I would have felt for it if I hadn´t been paying attention.
Manus is the furtive pigmy, the first human, born through the light and dark. Farron is Oolacile corrupted by the abyss.
About Artorias: He didn´t chose to go alone. He couldn´t go with anyone. Did you fight the four kings in dark souls 1? You can´t go to the abyss just like that. It was a one man mission. And the farron legion is not a fanboy base of artorias, they have the blood of artorias and his duty was to prevent the abyss to extend, associated with artorias, who had that mission before them and failed. But they couldn´t keep the flame alive and keep the abyss at bay at the same time (they had to try, since there were no lords of cinder they became one) so they renounce to the flame but in the end they perished to the abyss as well. They are all corrupted by the time you meet them in the game.
And Wolnir was a tyrant who sentenced to death many souls, trying to find out the secret to immortality, he eventually was consumed by the abyss.


So you´re not entirely wrong, but you´re definitely not right.
