Let's talk about tears of denial in duels.

Now, i'm not a super pro dark guy with 8000 hours on every souls game like you guys, but i have a thing or two to say about tears of denial:
DS pvp duels are all about outsmarting the enemy with movement and timing, right? Most of the times the winner is the one who can bait his enemy into attacking and hitting at the right time (again, most of the times), and it just doesn't feel right that if you have a certain miracle you are basically automatically win any close duel where both player get down to one shot health, the guy who gives the tears of denial the last hit that should win him the fight, receives a big fat F*** you from the game and now all his effort is gone into dust because the enemy pressed a button that allows him to resist any amount of damage, the duel should be like:
i outsmarted you, i win, you made mistakes, so you lost;
but ToD just changes that into:
i outsmarted you, i lost, you made mistakes, but had a spell that made you immortal for the first "life", so you won.

It just doesn't feel right, what's your onpinion?

Use part of armor of thorns or Throwing Knife, and and you will not notice the difference.

tears of denial got common because people realised that VIT investmenst to wear medium/heavy armour is not worth the defense you get, much better go for tears.

Aren't throwing knives pretty easy to dodge though? All you need to do i just walk to the side and that's a dodge...idk

Youll see if someone has ToD active so you can plan accordingly, and yeah Throwing Knives fix it most of the time.
Though IMO ToD should have a higher faith req..

I recommend to use gloves of thorms, all you need is one roll near the apponent.

I'm a faith build and always use ToD in Gank City and armor of thorns kills me every time so go for that and you'll be fine, even one piece of the armor is enough to kill ToD users. You just roll next to them and it's done.

It's 1 hit. It's only consequential against big magic and heavy weapons. Slotting in ToD takes a lot of stats. If you're going for a faith or dark build fair enough, but 2 attunement slots is no joke. When facing anything smaller than a CGS I'd reckon putting in hp is more useful, since that doesn't get countered by throwing daggers and just fast hits.

Regen takes time,if you beat correctly, then there is no chance for you apponent.

If they were smart enough to use ToD and you weren't smart enough to punish them for it, who's really outsmarting whom? If you're not using every tool at your disposal to win, how does that make you smarter than the one who does so and wins because of that?

Assuming proper regen and not just the sun princess ring or the like, it takes a second to survive shivs and kirk rolls. Literally.
