Good spell parry and tells you when the active frames are
Alternitivly if you are good enough with it Raipier is probably the best legit Parry item
A fun thing to do though is Farron Greatsword With Wolf Knight GreatShield or Curse Ward Greatshield
Have you seen the stamina consumption on those spell parry shields? Parrying spells is practically worthless since you can just roll through them and close the distance to the caster in the process. For all other parrying tools you just have to learn the parry frames, predicting the opponent's action is more important than knowing visually what the active parry frames are.
On that note, I'm most comfortable/familiar with the parry frames on the small shields (i.e. buckler, target shield,) so those work best for me.
I agree with you on the variable worth that spell parrying has however it's really funny to see the person collapse when you don't even move and parry their magic 10 times in a row
