* Always get 40 end if you're gonna use a shield for blocking. You can have a bit less if you're using a parry shield and only planning on parries.
What are you gay?
At 40 str requirement and 28 units of wieght, at any reasonable level you'd almost have to structure your entire build around a shield.
The objectively best shield is whatever shield best suits your build. I love the stats on the blacknight shield for example, for all the reasons you said, and the weapon art is great... but shields with that WA always gets me killed. I instinctually go for a parry and end up going "wtf was that?? oh yeah...."
this is still false info dude. MAGIC SHIELD is only enough with glory or havel to reach 100. black knight REQUIRES GREAT magic shield to reach 100 stability. and great magic shield costs far higher int and mana and also has less uses and lasts only half aslong. you dont reach 100 with magic shield on a black knight shield. you NEED the great variant for this. so your info is completly false simply.
for pve purely havels is the best shield. as the stamina penalty of glory is pretty heavy. yes havels is far more heavy but you go 40 str anyway for your weapons which matches the shields requirements aswell. so it doesnt really take much extra to use it if youre a str build. if youre a dex ♥♥♥ then yeah. your fault for beeing a ♥♥♥♥♥♥^^
