There's no shorter route, from Dancer Bonfire, climb stairs keep left, down the elevator, then RUN straight and you will find him there.

[Alariel]

You start from bf Castle Lothric and use the shortcut, elevator down.
Cast Hidden Body and Rapport to kill the 2 Lothric Knights . Use an ember and summon the NPC Hawkwood. Enter boss fog and fight him melee.
Dragon Slayer Axe is your friend there. Don't bother with sorceries.
