Both also work in PvP, simply because they're fast and decent damaging weapons. While they won't do as much damage as say, crow quills and lothric straight sword on a dex build, they do proc frostbite which is against turtlers. If you do try it in PvP make sure to keep something like firebombs or a fire dagger, since fire damage removes frostbite and let's you reapply it without having to wait.

Correct me if im wrong, but werent the crow quills nerfed into oblivion? I tried them a while back, and the damage output was mediocre at best.

Only the crit damage was nerfed I believe, even then it's not too bad for riposte. I use them on my SL 60 invader and they do great, even if I usually one-hand it.

I tried them +9 leo ring, only about 150 dmg, even on a counterhit. So either ive missed something, or normal dmg with them is crap.

Edit, this was on a 40/40 build.

I don't think they do well with refined, so that probably didn't help. Also it definitely wasn't a counterhit if you did 150, that was just a regular hit.

I'll do some invasions and I'll say how a sharp +7 crow quills is compared to a sharp +7 Lothric SS damage wise. I'll also try and remember how much I do with a leo ring counter compared to a normal hit on the same guy.

Edit: Though that'll be in a bit since I'm on my mage at the moment.

I tried it out, though I didn't manage to get a counter hit since I was mostly using other weapons. On a guy with medium defense armor, I did 147 damage with Crow Quills R1 and 160 damage with lothric SS R1. So not too much difference, considering Lothric SS does real high damage for a smaller weapon. That was with +7 weapons and 32 dex, both sharp infused. Also, due to the 120 critical that Crow Quills have, you'll generally do higher backstab and riposte damage compared to Lothric SS' 110.
both do low damage but the frostbite makes up for lost dps. Very effective against dragonslayer armor, who is vulnerable to frost. In fact, you can fight him with an unupgraded ithryill straight sword and still have a chance.
