Farron Greatsword WA SPAM

why is everyone spamming the ♥♥♥♥ outta the WA and either maining it or uusing it with another weapon (curved greatsword or longsword) did it get buffed? i ran into 20 people using it today

Use a flippy WA from a Ultra GS or poise WA from Caestus or BKGS, very effective counters.
As for why people are using it, there hasn't been any updates for a long while, so more coincidence that many are using it right now.

Probably the fact that its spinniness is really cool.

Admittedly I stupidly didn't get one, so I can't spin to win even if I wanted to. :(

My bad, thought you meant the one that the Abyss Watcher soul could create that allowed you to spin around like a maniac; hell, there was even a prerelease .gif of it, probably due to how awesome it looks.

No need, I'm gonna be starting NG+ very soon (just need one more damn sunlight medal for the last miracle before I start NG+), and in that run I will be paying much more attention to soul transposition, especially since I'll be at level 125 and therefore can't level further without losing matchmaking for PvP.

Farron GS WA got a buff. It’s speed got increased by a lot between attacks.

But still as easy to parry as ever.

I was mocking the surprisingly common misconception that the L1 attacks are the weapon art, when in reality the real weapon art is a parry...and a horrible parry at that.

Its not that bad. It has the same frames as a medium shield. And the nice thing about people thinking the frames are bad or completely forgetting it even exists is that you can catch them by surprise.

Also, as far as the farron gs goes. It can eork really well because the l1 attacks have a strange timing that will often catch people off guard when properly mixed up. You have to pay extra attention to your rolls when fighting it.

Yeah, I actually do land more parries than I expected with it, but I still don't use it as my reliable parry tool.

Also, anyone spamming anything won't go far, especially using a FG. It is easy to misuse due to it's fluid L1 moveset (not a WA, as other said above it never had a WA), but unless you really know how to make it work in pvp, you will only hold it against bad to mid average players

I made the comparison before for those that played Tekken. FG is like Eddy Gordo. Accommodates well for beginners with its fluidity, but better players will stomp it, making it effectively good only for beginners vs beginners, or ppl who REALLY know what they're doing
