Profaned Capital disappointment
Why is this area so rushed and incomplete? The cinematic had me hyped for the "Profaned City" and Yhorm the Giant, but when I got there it all came down to three rooms, a bridge and a gimmicky fight. I understand the Demon's Souls reference, but come on... Irithyll Dungeon, the immediatley previous area was so spooky, I had to sneak around and play stealthly, and I was really looking forward for something epic in the next area. What a bummer.

Not to mention that despite all treasures there it is insanely lacking in turn of loot xD

Yeah ahah, guess no one has use for gold in that world... even if I think Patches might like it

They wanted Irithyll dungeon to take up most of that area I guess. Anor Londo is way smaller. At least the Capital has some side paths and stuff to do. Also Irithyll Dungeon is more DeS-inspired. I'm glad they did something different with Yhorm. The series has way too many ankle-biting Giant bosses. Fans complained about that pre-launch.

My main problem with Irithyll dungeon is the last room with ton of jailers. It just force you to snipe them one by one from cover unless you want to suffer their gaze hp reduction

Yhorm himself as a boss is even MORE dissapointing.

because charging up the same attack six times and be doe with it is better... they could have made him a fantastic boss, made him a boring gimmick

How? Like I said, it would have just been another dime a dozen ankle biting fight.

To be fair the first time you run into Yorm it's quite excruciating fight unless someone dropped you a spoiler. In my first run I didn't know about stormruler. Qué anklebiting

Agreed, it's a boring gimmick once you figure it out. It took me getting destroyed twice before I slowed down and decided to actually look at the sword I'd picked up. And if people are that bored by the gmick, can always choose not to use it.

The entire area though did seem really lacking and more of a tack-on than an area for a central boss fight.

I played Demon's Souls, so Storm Ruler+ Abysmal Damage wasn't hard to figure out what to do

Idk, maybe doing a 2 or 3 stage fight with a vertical map, or some envirmonetal advantage to use, surely they ould have done something better thant this. I mean I didn't even look the boss during the fight, it was just roll back three time, bait slam and charge. When he went second phase I barely realized he did. Again, I know that the DkS combat system is somewhat limiting with huge bipedal monsters (you'd need something on the line of Dragon's Dogma to make fights really intresting, but this is DkS no DD), all I'm saying is that they could have done better, and I feel like they woulda but had to rush the area and the boss.

It's disappointingly short, but nothing about it appears "rushed" or "incomplete." The level design that is there is solid and proper art passes were performed, meaning it doesn't look like a sterile cubist maze like a typical Dark Souls 2 level. There's clutter and detail in the environment. See: Demon Ruins, Lost Izalith for examples of what confirmed rushed/incomplete areas look like.

I think the idiom you're looking for is "[a] dime a dozen."

The area definetly feels rushed, I'm not taliking about the secret path that leads to the toxic swamp (that area was probably done together with the Dungeon and not with the Capital, and even if it weren't is optional) but the area before the boss. Copy-pasta enemies and only three rooms. It's even worse that Izalith if you ask me, and the boss is as gimmicky as BoC only less unfair.

If you think the Profaned Capital looks less finished than Lost Izalith, you're really stretching. "Copypasta enemies" it actually has unique enemies to that area. Headless Gargoyles and Profaned Keepers weren't seen previously. Not sure what you mean by that. It doesn't have 50 Dragon butts wadsling around in a giant orange texture. The unfinished areas that Miyazaki talked about would actually include the Crucifixion Woods, which was originally intended to be way more fleshed out. Like I said, the focus was intendes to be on Irithyll Dungeon. Area names mean nothing. The start of Irithyll Dungeon to Yhorm have no cut-off points.
