yes, you can pick up and use dlc weapons dropped by others if you do not own the dlc.

well i can't get items from ashes of ariendal becuase i don't own it, so...proof before you try telling me it's false. do you have any proof that i'm wrong or are you just trying to mislead the OP?

i don't believe you. considering i've been unable to see or interact with items from the ashes dlc, please provide some sort of proof that i'm wrong before claiming such a thing.

Mason, people can see and pick up DLC items without owning them. I do it all the time for my thread.

People cannot see and pick up boss souls, titanite, gems, spells, or equipment that's been upgraded to a level higher than they've ever upgraded something for themselves. Perhaps that was the case when you tried to pick up an Ashes of Ariandel item.

The standalone game has the data for all the dlc weapons. A few days before ariandel and the ringed city came out cheaters already had acess to the DLC weapons and were using them in PvP. Why? because they released an update that put the weapon content into the game. This way players without he DLCs who want to pvp and co-op with players without the DLCs still can. They can get the weapons dropped from players with the DLCs but cannot acess the DLC itself.

It appears you CAN indeed give items from a dlc to a player who doesn't own them like i suspected and like Jerome said. That said, anyone willing to drop me / trade some dlc items ?

Must’ve been the case. I’m disappointed in having been mislead by the person I was helping and disappointed that I in turn almost mislead someone else. On that note, though, not to derail this thread, but...is there anything in the ashes dlc worth having weapons-wise? I’m pretty partial to the ringed knight straight sword thanks to a friendly soul gifting it to me as thanks for helping them trade their items/gear/whathaveyou-is there anything similar in ashes or cooler?

I got given a sword that becomes a great sword made of fire a long time ago. I was amost sure it was fro ma dlc cus i had never seen it before, but still wanted to make sure. Since i don't own the Dlc i don't know if there's something amazing to be had, but the Ringed knight armor set looks amazing and is a decent weight, which is why i would like to own one :p

Well likely the most popular item is the Friede Great Scythe, due to how powerful, fast, versatile, and stylish it is. As overused as the weapon art may be, it is a fantastic weapon.

If straight swords are your thing, the Valorheart is a solid choice. Not the strongest weapon, it is highly aggressive, with fast attacks that automatically block for you. Its running strong attack is tremendously good, and can punish people with ease. Its biggest downfall is the fact that it's such a huge stamina hog, especially because of the autoblocks. You may run out of stamina much sooner than you'd think, so you're forced to play with that much more awareness.

The Onyx Blade is a pretty damn good greatsword, with ultragreatsword range and high damage to boot.
And for creative faith builds, the Rose of Ariandel whip is oddly fast and punishing, unparryable, with the ability to cast spells and increase Miracle spellbuff.

Wow, those sound great. It feels a bit p2w , the dlc . 90% of the players i gight in pvp have some sort of ringed city / ashes of ariendel item equipped :(
