Game Not Responding on launch

I am at a loss.
Changing to windowed mode doesn't work
updating graphics driver doesn't work
Rolling back my driver worked. for about an hour. then returned to the same "not responding" on launch
re installing the game doesn't work. if it does it works for like an hour and then returns to the same problem.

i disabled the windows 10 game bar as well and that worked for a little while but now the issue is back.

Without fail the game will startup. go to a white screen, then turn black and go to not responding.

Specs:
windows 10 pro x64 is up to date
My evga gtx1080 is fully updated
i have 32gb ddr4
all of my drives are SSD's and show no errors when checked

Keep in mind i have been working in IT for 6 years. i have a pretty damn good understanding of how windows works.

EDIT: Since people keep necroing this over 3 year old post i will edit with my fix.
My hard drive was failing.
Nothing to do with the game.

very strange behavior. check for virus

No infections and this is the only game with this issue. disabling the windows 10 game bar helped for a while but now the problem is back again and the game bar is still disabled. perhaps its the steam overlay. i shall try disabling that next.

Guys! I found the fix! (at least for me)

THE FIX: I disabled the steam overlay for dark souls three by right clicking on the game and going to preferences in my library. Game opens right up in about 2 seconds main menu. All my saves in tact.

What tipped me off to this was the fact that when steam normally pops up in the corner to tell you about shift tab, instead of opening the tiny reminder, a thin black line appeared on the edge of the screen and imidiately locked up the process. So thanks everyone for your attempt at help!

NEVER ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MIND. Same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem the second I closed the game. This is beyond infuriating the game just randomly decides when it wants to work. Every time I click play it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gamble. This is quite possibly the most infuriating problem I have ever encountered because literaly nothing works for any length of time.

I will find somthing that seems like it works and then the second I close the game the issue is right back again like it never went away.

Unfortunatly i found my issue to be a failing hard drive. sorry for never updating this. My Darksouls (along with a few other games) were isntalled to my oldest SSD and the drive had a failure on the contrller that cause them all to crash constantly. sorry bud, i know thats not much help

Ive put my DS3 onto my SSD wich didnt work for me, ive also done everything, my friends dont have this issue. Hate that I cant play my favorite game on pc

Again, sorry my issue was related to bad hardware. Once I installed a new drive my issue went away. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I had this issue where 99% of the time, the game would hang at launch for about 5 minutes. Figured out that it would only happen when my Xbox One controller was plugged in (via the wireless dongle). If the Xbox dongle wasnt plugged in, then the game boots quickly every time. So I only plug in the dongle AFTER I've launched the game.

I used a ps4 controller and used ds4windows to make it work, my wire was bad so if it disconnected, the game would crash, I might try your way though
