Never knew how horribly designed Ashes of Ariandel is.
Know that cat ring you get that says you won't take fall damage?
Lovely to know that From ruins that by putting insta-kill zones in the depths of the painting area so you are FORCED to walk down the vines even on NG++.
Great design there From.

Not sure that's an indication of "poor" design.

The rings always reduced damage, but the kill fields always killed you.

Keeping those annoying vines annoying is kind of what FROM would do. It's kind of their reputation at this stage. Annoy and ambush you til the salt flows.

Exactly. The ring only works if the fall is not one that will kill you. A good way to tell is to throw a prism stone first... if it breaks, the fall is too high and will kill you.

Is there anything else you can do in Dark Souls?
Sounds like a "Git Gud" moment tbh. Cat ring removes fall dmg, not fall death. Also there are areas in the main game where you will die from a large height as well. Nothing new.

So in short. No.

I've used the prism stones to test for invisible walkways that show up periodically like the one going to Yorshka's... Cat ring doesn't protect from falling from the rafters in Cathedral of the deep either.. so many deaths trying to get to Rosaria....

ashes of ariandel sucked massive ass anyway

only good thing was the freide boss fight and a few of the items, one of the worst DLCs i've ever played for any video game

Idk if I'd say it's that bad. Ringed City and Artorias of the Abyss are easily better, but I don't think it's that bad. Sure it's filled with dogs and enemies that are way too fast for dark souls. But the bosses are pretty good. Ok the Champion's Gravetender just mashes R1, but the dog is cool, too bad it's a miniboss beforehand. Friede is good though. Too bad she's much faster than she should be in a DS game. Uhh... hmm.

But you know, muh items.

#1 A kill zone always kills you nothing in the game will change that

#2 in ds3 the ring does not get rid of fall damage it negates all falldamage (ONLY if you can survivave the jump/fall)

#3 It's not ds3's fault you don't understand the mechanics of the game

#4 There are a few unneeded kill zones but then again you could not survive the drops in most of them anyway so what does it matter

#5 Stop complaining about game mechanics that works as intended by the devs m8
