Most weapon arts that can be used without FP are about 25% slower and 30% weaker, and you can't combo them into their second hit / set stuff on fire / trigger other special effects. Not sure if the slowdown affects the number of frames the hitbox is active, it feels like it only affects the startlag / endlag and not the attack animation but I might be wrong.

you are right. It also consumes more stamina.

Ah, looks like I'll continue carrying a few ashen estus then.
Thanks

If you have the weight to have it equipped without fatrolling, the Executioner's Greatsword on offhand will still give you the FP bonus for kills. You'll still get it when two-handing Gael's.

How does it? I'm currently using a blessed parry shield on my back right now, but I could change it if I can pretty much skip FP

The Executioner Greatsword has an innate FP on kill effect, giving you I believe 5 FP. For comparison, the Handmaiden Dagger gives 2 fp on hit? and the Aldrich Sapphire gives 15FP on critical hits.

An alternative to the Exec GS could be a lightweight Dagger or any small shield with a Simple infusion, which regenerates 0.5 FP a second

Doesn't seem to be worth it, you get an ashen estus for each kill you make, so you can pretty much use them an unlimited time. (Providing you're dueling and you need 1 per match)

Well, yeah, for PVP and the Undead Match, of course it's no good. But you didn't mention that until now.
It's fine for PvE though.

Ah, sorry.
Yeah for pvp its quite good (except for bosses, but that's where switching stuff comes in)

Tested in Arena. The weapon art does NOT COMBO with no FP. It doesn't lose damage and it also doesn't make the weapon arts slower, it simply loses hitstun on your enemy. So without FP, the R1 -> L1 -> R1 combo does not work as it will end at the L1 portion.

Thanks for the test. Looks like FP is quite important after all

You can also make your Caestus simple infused for passive FP regen rather than Health from Blessed
