Question about getting the Twinkling Dragon Head Stone.

I missed the first attempt with Hawkwood to perform the gesture with him at the very top. After that I cannot see his sign. Do I have to play NG+ to get the stone?

During my first playtrough, i didn't need to summon him to get my stone ( didn't know i could even could ). So you should be able to do the emote on top of the hill and get it. It does take a few sec before you get it.

If you have performed the emote on top of the hill for the first stone then the blacksmith will tell you hawkwood left a message for you. He will then wait in the abyss watchers boss room, kill him and you get the second stone.
