Undead hunter charm aura active but invader still drank?

Hey guys, just curious what causes this, would appreciate the info. So I was fighting an invader and I threw an undead hunter charm at him and could see the misty aura thing around the player that indicates they got hit, but as soon as they did they chugged estus to like show me it didn't work even though the aura was active. Any idea what causes it?

Can chug Siegbrau even with hunter charm effect active.

It's possible that phantoms/invaders can still use siegbrau and divine Blessing.

If it wasn't a Seigbrau or DB then probably someone using Cheat Engine.
This game is full of script-kiddies like that. Can't wait for DS1 Remastered to come out so I can play this game without having my characters corrupted. I'm getting sick of sitting at this infinite loading screen.

Could be that they chugged before the effects kicked in. Hard to believe but it has happened.

I didn't even think of it possibly being Siegbrau. Derp... That's probably what it was! Worst case scenario it was a cheater but honestly I don't think it was because he fought okay and had limited health. Thank you very much guys!

Lol, it was a good invader, prepared and adaptive. Like everyone else said, charms block estus, not Siegbrau or DB, and he likely knew and was prepared.

Also lag is a thing. With enough lag involved all game mechanics are basically irrelevant.
