What happens after I kill Soul Of Cinder?

What I mean, is will it instantly send me into NG after I get my ending like in Dark Souls 1, or is it more like Dark Souls 2 where I have to rest at a certain bonfire to begin NG? I'd like to know, because I have only 3 bosses left to kill, not counting the optional ones. Soul Of Cinder, Sister Friede, and Slave Knight Gael. I want to kill them in that order, if possible.

you have to manually select the option "Head to journey 2" or whatever.

You aren't forced into the next NG cycle like ds1 or bloodborne.

This is the way it should've been honestly.

You're forced into ng+

You get a promt to start "Journey 2" aka NG+ after defeating Soul of Cinder, but you can just select "no" and later choose the "start Journey 2" option from the Firelink Bonfire
