*on Nexusmods all you get is some shader tweakings, mule saves and obviously nude mods, I suppose this game is not modding friendly.
1. ALWAYS back-up your save file periodically. In the event a hacker corrupts yours or you pick up an item from them that will flag your save and you can't drop it you can at least pull a backup and not lose to much progress.
2. NEVER pick up items from other players unless you trust them. This goes mainly for items from invaders but also some phantoms as ♥♥♥♥♥♥ people will be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ people.
3. If you ever get invaded but dont see the invasion notification just book it off an edge and stay un-embered for a bit. That is a clear sign whoever just came in is manipulating the game.
4. Make use of Win10 Game DVR. If you do get your save screwed by a hacker immediatly save a 30 sec clip of it going on and report the issue to Bandai and Valve with the video. That will be your biggest defense in protecting your save and steam account from soft-ban.
5. If you do come in contact with a hacker if its a phantom just boot and block to be safe. Same goes if you get summoned into a hackers world. If an invader just let them kill you and be on your merry way. Don't let it get to you too much.
6. NEVER interact with hackers unless someone is being a cool guy and doing a fair "mini-boss" hack to keep the game fun for seasoned players. This includes sending messages or continuing further contact.
7. and the most important: The hacking issue is grossly over-exaggerated on PC. Yes they exist and im sure most people have at some point used something like the 100% drop rate in offline mode (Personally i dont give a damn what people do in offiline but it becomes an issue if used to screw over other players). Hackers exist on many games and that never stopped PC players before. If you think DS3 is bad then you must have missed the ♥♥♥♥-fest that Dark Souls 1 was prior to Eur0pa's PVP Watchdog mod.
