DS1 n DS2 had way harder areas than bosses, less bonfires and very punishable healing. I feel they on par, at worst
That said, ds2 had more space to cover too, I feel ds3 is smaller, but way fuller
(Some of them are hidden.. like killing Sword Master to have someone for Champion Gundyr..
Or having to be a Hollow, to have Black Hand Gothard for Abyss Watchers)
Although, in the first area.. you have to choose between using Lionheart for Vordt, or Sword Master for Dancer. (Neither sign will return once one or the other is dead)
Then it's just a matter of trading Aggro.
Run in, hit.. roll away.. let cpu ally do the same.

Many of these bosses can be cheesed as well.
Pontiff - Can't hit you if you stay under his Right Arm. (every attack from that side is above your character's head)
Abyss Watchers - Can be bullied with weapons that have a knock-down CC (Astora Greatsword, Hollowslayer Greatsword.. ect..). Pair it with a chloranthory ring (to get stamina quickly) and you really only have to hit him once with a well timed charged 2h-heavy swing.
(As you'll be able to charge another before he can climb back to his feet, for 100% stun-lock)
DragonSlayer Armor - Can fall off the side of the stage. (With some daredevil tactics, and a bit of fancy camera work) Bait him into the jumping attack and roll under him.
Soul of Cinder - Has very telegraphed attacks. Walking forward (not strafing!) untargeted will let you circle around cinder without fear of being hit. Use a 1h-sword or other quick weapon and jab little bits in as you move.

But in the end.. it's your decision.
Frankly, I'd be more upset with the buggy coding and last-minute slap in of invasion mechanics.
(They could have done more besides poorly implemented algorythm scaling)
Most bosses are literally just: "Roll 4 times, poke once with L1" anyway.
