DARK SOULS™ III

DARK SOULS™ III

Dark Souls 3 is way too hard compared to the first two I'm not playing any more games from this studio
Almost every boss I need a summon for. I Dark Souls 1 and 2 veteran. The only boss I ever needed to summon for was Ornstein and Fatty and the Smelter Demon. In both of these games my playstyle was biggest weapon I could find and a mighty great shield. When I came over to Dark Souls 3 I didn't play it as much because I didn't like how fast and aggressive everything was. In the other two games the bosses would do their combo and give you a moment to attack. In Dark Souls 3 the bosses give you a millisecond of a window. After losing to the abyss watchers 42 times then finally beating them because it got stuck using the same attack 3 times at low health and I was able to get the swing in, I vowed never again. I summon for Abyss Watchers, Pontiff, Dragonslayer Armor, Consumed King, Champion Gundyr, princes, Soul of Cinder, gravetender and wolf, and Sister freide. I was able to beat Consumed King and gravetender in one try on a melee character. Also I am so bad at this game that even when I'm over leveled with 30 vigor for someone like Pontiff I still have a hard time. FromSoft destroyed sorcery. How is it fair that I get distance from someone like C Gundyr to use my ashen flasks but he can stop combo and lol charge me to death? Don't get me started on the twin princes. I'm going to teleport right next to you with no warning while you try to cast. Then I'm going to revive as much I want to rek your face and make you throw the controller. I got to soul of cinder yesterday. It was so satisfying to have Yuria tank while I cast crystal soul spear until it died.

Meanwhile, Dark Souls 3 was the first game in the series to have a successful no hit run. So. You're wrong. I'm sure Fromsoft are weeping though.

ok?
It's just the speed, but I will agree that bosses in ds3 are the toughest lot, however to me that's a good thing.

DS1 n DS2 had way harder areas than bosses, less bonfires and very punishable healing. I feel they on par, at worst

DS2 had a bazillion bonfires. Demon's Souls had it best. 1 bonfire per area allowed for some super interesting level design. I wish they'd experiment on that again.

Bosses like Kalameet, Manus, Fume Knight or Lud and Zallen will destroy you over and over again if you try to hide behind a shield. I'm sceptical of your "veteran" credentials to be completely honest.

Sure, but not like ds3, some bonfires in 3 are just plain ridiculous :/

Alot of them don't have any enemies inbetween them though, and are purely there for separating invasion areas. I get what you mean though. Atleast 3 was more daring with level design I say.

They learned from Bloodborne actually, my first impressions with 3 was "this sh!t is ds2+BB". Many buildings and layouts remind me more of areas in BB than ds2

That said, ds2 had more space to cover too, I feel ds3 is smaller, but way fuller

Conveniently enough... if you do ALL of the side-quests, you'll have an npc summon for every boss.

(Some of them are hidden.. like killing Sword Master to have someone for Champion Gundyr..
Or having to be a Hollow, to have Black Hand Gothard for Abyss Watchers)
Although, in the first area.. you have to choose between using Lionheart for Vordt, or Sword Master for Dancer. (Neither sign will return once one or the other is dead)

Then it's just a matter of trading Aggro.
Run in, hit.. roll away.. let cpu ally do the same.

--

Many of these bosses can be cheesed as well.

Pontiff - Can't hit you if you stay under his Right Arm. (every attack from that side is above your character's head)

Abyss Watchers - Can be bullied with weapons that have a knock-down CC (Astora Greatsword, Hollowslayer Greatsword.. ect..). Pair it with a chloranthory ring (to get stamina quickly) and you really only have to hit him once with a well timed charged 2h-heavy swing.
(As you'll be able to charge another before he can climb back to his feet, for 100% stun-lock)

DragonSlayer Armor - Can fall off the side of the stage. (With some daredevil tactics, and a bit of fancy camera work) Bait him into the jumping attack and roll under him.

Soul of Cinder - Has very telegraphed attacks. Walking forward (not strafing!) untargeted will let you circle around cinder without fear of being hit. Use a 1h-sword or other quick weapon and jab little bits in as you move.

--

But in the end.. it's your decision.

Frankly, I'd be more upset with the buggy coding and last-minute slap in of invasion mechanics.
(They could have done more besides poorly implemented algorythm scaling)

Most bosses are literally just: "Roll 4 times, poke once with L1" anyway.

There is an easy mode in this game and is called Knight, ok? You take it at character creation.

I didn't play the expansions in ds1 or ds2.

DS2 expansions > DS1 expansion. Mostly.
