How short is the Ashes of Ariandel DLC?

I just made it to the first pair of bosses. Was curious if its as long as Ringed City, how they compare, etc

TLDR; The Ringed City is a lot bigger. Also google each expansion and there should be a wiki page giving you bullet points for each of them.

Ashes of Ariandel is super short. There are only two bosses, and one of them is optional. On top of that, the areas are small enough to just YEET yourself through pretty quickly. Most of what this DLC added for me was an early way into the ringed city and an alright collection of new weapons and armor. Four spells, and all of them are meh.


The Ringed City is on a whole other plane of content existence. The world is large enough to merit itself, there are four bosses, with one of them being optional and another one being respawnable. Two of the bosses are also renowned as being the most fairly difficult fights in DS3. It adds many more weapons and armor, and six actually good spells. (Including one that makes dedicated hex casting viable to rock by itself.) It also adds a bunch of +3 versions of rings into the game, which are fantastic for getting the most out of a build / making a build possible in the first place.

In summary, I felt pretty ripped off after Ashes, but felt like The Ringed City was a great expansion.

Well thats pretty swell. I figured i was halfway done with Ashes and that Ringed City was going to be crazy with how many spells and weapons i saw off the wiki page. Im thankful for the +3 rings too since DkS3 is massive and i dont have as much patience building builds for too long lol

Oh! Do be wary of invaders when you get to The Ringed City. Since people can expect to find meta level characters there without being on NG+, it is one of the hotspots for invasion outside of Anor Londo. Try bringing a friend, summoning, or at least putting on way of blue.

After getting my ass kicked at literally like SL 20 as a sorcerer im sure it cant be that bad now im at SL 90.

Sorcerers are kind of awkward at lower levels, and sort of ramp up in power the closer you get to a solid, meta level build for one. I can help you out with that kind of thing or co-op with you for a bit if you want.

Haha...awkward. Im playing on console, shoulda specified, thanks though. Ive already made it to Soul of Cinder. My sorcerers dont have that much trouble as soon as i find the Immolation Tinder/Crystal Sage Rapier

Dang. I'd help you if I could. Though, there is a site I know of that could help if you ever want to plan what to go for. Look up soulsplanner if you ever want to experiment without spending boat loads of hours. You can plan a build there and see the output it does.

Also, have you heard of a mechanic called virtual dexterity? Its a weird mechanic that effects cast speed, and is incredibly useful to a caster.

Yeah actually. I basically know roughly all the hidden mechanics just short of player-named ♥♥♥♥ like “true combos”. I feel like an old man coming back to that lol
