To avoid this disconnect yourself from steam by going offline on steam. Make sure to wipe that character when you are done or use a burner account that you won't mind getting banned on.
You don't have to be offline on Steam, just make sure you don't sign into DS3 by turning off the auto sign in. That worked on my end anyway
Basically because they don't modify the game per se, with modding you modify the game itself to make it different, with the cheats you can use a third party program to modify a variable when then game is already up, so the difference will be minimal, ergo, hard to detect.
For example (though is very obsolete), Cheat Engine. What I said here is an example, i don't know how the cheats work (i never had necessity for them) but they have something that makes them "undetectable".
Wouldn't you still get banned on your main account if you switched back due to the saves being in the same place?
The saves are different, they are in the same place, but are different files.
The private/alternative sessions would be on a separate save, since they are different from the original file, and would be only for mod playing. I call them alternative because instead of being you the one creating the instance, FS itself can modify the game to allow the alternative gameplay, for example, the cinders mod or the Daughters of Ash mod are REALLY good mods, they just need to add an option and allow you to choose if you want to do a normal run or a modder run (DoA/Cinders) and then, well, move you to a server for that specific mod. The problem is that doing this changes the structure of the game itself, and unless you want to do it specificaly to make the fans happy, it's not worth the time.
One example about what i'm talking about: The leagues of Path of Exile. It would be something like that, you can choose what to play, but once the character is done, that one stays in the league you've chosen, allowing you to interact only with those who are in the same league as you. This would also mean they have to create a workshop on Steam, so the modders can upload their mods to see if FS approves it. In my opinion, this would make the game even funnier to play, since it would allow the players to enjoy it ieven more.
As for playing co-op, without invaders. Don't know if that's possible. If you're gonna play co-op, I'd do as others have suggested and make a Family Shared account and use that.
Info about the shared account: If i'm not wrong, only one person can use it at the same time, it means that if you are playing, the other 3-4 can't. Basically this allows to "share games" without losing money.
Correct me if i'm wrong, i'm not sure about it, but i remember reading something like this when they implemented it.
