I don't understand how do you get softbanned from picking up items from other people
Brunner Jun 17, 2019 @ 7:58am
Well, you can't, unless you did something fishy to get your main banned

Depends.

If the items are mundane consumables. No

Anything else that would be "special". Possibly.

What if a hacker drops you a mod item and you don't even know that. You get banned instantly, right?

Can you recall what items did you got before getting your main banned?

If you pick up certain cheated items from other players, then yes, it can result in a ban.

This includes things such as "gesture items". These get stuck in your inventory and you can't even drop/discard them.

Also certain impossible items such as a +15 claymore would also result in a ban. It's why you should be cautious when picking up any items. Best not to unless you trust them.

This also applies to Crafting Materials (Titanite Slabs, Titanite Scale,) and also for Estus Flask Shards and Undead Bone Shard.

Yep. But I'm pretty sure that if you talk to the supp team, they will try to help you get your acc back, right?

I doubt. They made it very clear in the EULA statement that everything you do that seems fishy (dropping non droppable items, insta killing) is your responsibility. Don't dig your own grave

Yea, is the person that dropped the item fault, not you for picking up random stuff you saw on the ground. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

As I said, its YOUR responsibility for what you are doing with your account and your characthers. Like our elders said: "Don't take the stuff from strangers!"

You can, but most likely will have to delete the character that was flagged, and wait up to possibly 4 weeks. It will save all your other characters though (assuming they didn't cheat/picked up dodgy items or anything).

If the dev team is doing ♥♥♥♥ about the hackers that are ruining the game, then I still don't get it why tf they don't ban the player that dropped that item? For example, I can go to a start zone and drop a new player a mod item. He will get banned before doing the second boss in the game and he will be like ''Yo wtf just happend, I did nothing wrong'' and he will quit bc he will think that the game is ♥♥♥♥ and I totally understand his point of view...

A lot of cheaters do get banned, thing is due to family share they can just make a new steam account and go back to cheating. One of the big reasons that cheating is so rampant is due to no consequence when it's cheaters that get banned.
