Ok now at what part of the game did he die? Twice I've played where he died right after I met him by the elevator when fighting that first large demon. I hope that didn't happen in your game.

Sad thing about him is if you don't let him sacrifice himself for you, he becomes even worse off because he feels as if the burden of owing you his life keeps getting bigger and bigger.

You can actually get all the way thru without him dying, or depending on your choices....his daughter Sieglinde has to kill him at Ash Lake. :(

A different onion knight though, so "he died in DS1 too" would be incorrect even if you didnt specify about siegward and siegmeyer, since he already refers to the one in ds3, who wasnt even in ds1.

Rule number one of Dark Souls: everyone dies. Except for Andre and Patches. They're the only Souls characters that I can think of that have lasted until the end. Patches even went as far as to even appear in Demon's Souls and Bloodborne as well, he truly is Unbreakable.
