Caestus off hand is amazing
I saw a lot of video showcasing builds with the caestus off hand.
They're saying it's good because of it's low weight, instant parrying and that you can infuse it with simple to regain fp.

But what I'm wondering is why no one use perseverance with the off hand and then start attacking. You get true poise for 2 seconds and a boost of defense. It's simply too good!

I started doing this and my winning rate increased by a lot. Also, perseverance cost almost no fp. You can use it forever and the caestus actually does good damage.

I'm sure there are other people using the caestus that way, but considering the popularity of the weapon as an off hand, I'm surprised I don't see anyone doing it.

I don't use it because I'm better at parrying with a small shield. Different types of parry items have different parry timings.

Use a WA shield offhand, Caestus 2nd right hand slot. Swap your right hand weapon, use WA, swap weapon back. Actually have a decent weapon with "true" poise.

How to counter perseverance: Just play passive for the 2-3 seconds.
You're more likely being matched with bad players if perseverance makes you win.

How to counter passive players: Just roll catch them

I'm matched with so many passive players that fighting a aggressive player playing passive for 2 seconds doesn't change the roll catch game.

I guess you don't understand how being passive works. You can't rollcatch a player who doesn't roll. Reactive + Passive is something you can't do anything about.

Yeah. I met some of these players. They're just so good at avoiding any combat.
In arena, the match just ends with a draw because they're too passive.
In invasions, after 5 minutes of running after them, I get sick of it and black crystal out. If the player doesn't want to fight, I guess there's no point trying to force him.

I used it like that, but it's situational. Well, that's why it's in offhand.

And passive+reactive players are just boring. When I see a passive player, I become passive as well, and nothing happens. I always hope that they realize that what they are doing is useless, especially against me, but no. They remain passive and nothing happens. This is a game, you should play it!

I'm a passive player and I love causing madness in other players cause I play passive, lel it's just too fun

They'll play it how ever they want though. Noone has to adher to your playstyle or what you think is right.

everytime i encounter someone using caestus like that, or any other weapon whit the same WA what i do is that when they activate it i get a free hit on them and roll away, that simple, in my opinion its not effective, never lost to a caestus.
