Are barrels and box loot randomized or preset?
Just wondering if I should continue rolling through these things like a fool if I already found something in them. Thanks.

preset, won't refresh until you enter another game cycle (beat the game and start over, ng+, ng++, etc.).

Why must I destroy them all? 3 hours in and I haven't found a single thing...

ALL items and loot in the game world that aren't dropped by enemies are placed in non-random fixed positions and can only be looted once per game cycle. The only loot in containers is in chests, everything else is placed on the ground though it may be hidden behind boxes or barrels. Hope that makes everything clear.

It's not Diablo. It's just decorative.

You're saying I can cease this endless quest of barrel rolling and actually enjoy the game?

No, continue rolling through them all, if you want all the loot you MUST.

Well, just not the same barrel more than once.

He's saying instead of mindless barrel roll you should have some awareness and even if something is hidden behind barrels, you might see the light the item eminates. This game rewards clever play. It doesn't rewards mindless rolling.... Well it does... But shhhhhhhh.

Is he saying that nothing is ever INSIDE the barrels, just hidden BEHIND the barrels?

I don't remember anything being in a barrel... Only in DS1. But even there you could see the glow the item eliminates, or the dead body holding the item. So using your eyes was always preferable instead of rolling into everything.

Oh good. You've saved me a lot of trouble.

My next question: does two-handing a weapon increase the damage of every weapon, or just the big ones?

Makes your effective strength 150%, so you can wield a 24STR-requiring weapon at 16STR for instance. This applies to every weapon.

You get a slight AR increase as part of that, but it's not much; 8 points' worth in the above example.

It increases STR, so if something scales with STR it increases damage. Otherwise not much.
