Bonfire Level?
I just used a Undead Bone Shard, and upon using it I noticed it increased my bonfire level. Doesn't this mean that enemies are now stronger then before?

No no, all it does is increase the healing of your Estus.

You should see a +"number" next to your estus flask. That's the level your flask is and, as was stated, the higher the level the better healing you recieve. Similar to how estus shards increase the amount of estus you can have.

Yeah, unfortunately, this is a DS2 only mechanic. Your Estus healing gets stronger when burning shards in the Firelink Shrine's bonfire.
